Beware of staff at Hyperstar

It occured to me two days ago while shopping at Hyperstar. While checking out at a payment counter of Hyperstar I was shopping alone and passing over the items towards counter where one of their staff boys was quickly putting stuff in shopping bags. After looking at the bill I found that a few items' price was not what I had seen at the display, I told their incharge at exit and he promptly offered me a refund. He took the items I wanted to return and my bill and sent a boy upstairs and asked me to wait. NOW the real thing happened, the cashier girl who had billed my items was looking back again and again towards me as I stood some distance from the cash counters with my trolley of shopped items. She also signalled me a couple of times asking "Is everything OK?". I said its nothing, just needed to return some stuff. Finally after about 15 minutes she spoke out and asked me to come over the counter. In the meantime the staff boy had returned with my cash refund. She looked a bit worried on why I was waiting there for so long and getting a cash refund. And then showed me a 5Kg sugar bag lying on her counter and asked me if this was mine? I did not know that and upon digging through my trolley it was found that one bag was less and that was actually my purchased sugar bag still lying on the counter. Their incharge quickly offered me a refund from the cash drawer (against their normal procedure of getting cash refund from customer service dept.), but I told him that I do not want a refund for this item and they quickly put that bag back in my shopping trolley.
Although I did not face any loss, still I felt unpleasant on why the cashier girl did not see that leftover bag until fifteen minutes after I kept standing there and until when she saw me getting a cash refund. Secondly why did they quickly offer me an off the counter refund, against their policy for that leftover bag.
Since this was a confused event so I did not report this to their management but just for awareness sake I would say, one should be very careful at these shopping malls at check out and always count items after checkout.

thanks for the tip. We do our monthly grocery from hyperstar usually. We shall be vigilant in future, insha Allah.

well we do our monthly grocery shopping from hyperstar... never had that sort of a problem... may be it was a mistake... but keeping in view that her behavior was suspicious when she saw you standing there for some time, she might be up to something... good of you to inform others about it... will be careful the next time i go there...

1) Some things were over charged thn the price mentioned on the counters

2) Some items were billed were not in his trolley, the cashier had the bag, which was given to him after 15 mins

3) He claimed the items were wrongly billed and got a refund.

You should have checked it at the spot. At metro here there is a special portion for checking the electronics and be it bulbs or anything. they have the sockets and everything.
Nothing new you should know that all electronic items are expensive there.

There is a customer service counter where you can test your electronic equipment before taking it home. I recently bought some stuff from there and they told me to get it checked and also check whether all parts etc are in the box.
Secondly most of the time when we buy some stuff from the market the shopkeeper refuses to even acknowledge any warranty or replacement even if we come to him the next day. So thank HYPERSTAR for replacing a faulty product without much hassle.
The problem is not with hyperstar, the problem is with the product which hyperstar does not manufacture. It is good that you can check it there and then and even get it replaced if it is faulty within 7 days.

Some extra items in the bill is nothing new This has happened in Makro too and now I make it a point to go thru the whole list to see if there is anything wrong.
The staff at the counter is not relaxed and has to prepare the list as fast as possible. Sometimes they add an item twice and sometimes they press the wrong number and another item is added which we did not buy.
They are not the owners so the money doesnt go into their pockets (no fraud) it is just a mistake which we have to pay. The only solution is to go thru the list which doesnt take 1 minute. 1 minute is enough to scrutinize a bill with 30 items. It saves a trip (and petrol) back to the mall to get a refund .

Hyper star in Karachi is a SCAM / CON point the prices at the shelf (are lower) is different then the price in database (high price) managing the cash Tills at backend. double entry is very common and trust me no body cares, but some people does out of GOOD habit and they get pampered with extra credit & apology.

Yeah, the guy at the same counter refused to check the cordless phone. I had to insist just to make him open the box.

The best way to shop at these places is to be vigilant at check out and see the display for everything being scanned and billed. When you get your receipt read it carefully and tally the stuff in your trolley. It take just three minute or less to do so.
