I went to PSO Defence wala n told him to fill up rs500 worth of petrol. ousnay petrol tho daal dia hai bt meri needle wahi ki wahi hai!! I drive on Cng so i cant really tell if the petrol actually went in or not! N thats not the first fraud incident that happened with me at this PSO (Defence) On another occasion i was filling up for a long trip n the guy startd filling in without resetting it to zero meinay nikal ke manager ko bathaya ousnay ousay chupairain mari n told me that hez gona fire him but i still go there n see the same guy filling up!! :S Manager choor ka bacha saath he mila wa hai!!

we can never be careful enough with these guys.. they gonna thug u at every chance they get... not just in filling cng and petrol but also in giving back the change and stuff..

In Ireland, its self service.
Fill up the car yourself and they then pay the amount to the shop there.

@bango: ofcourse i always step out of the car and gaze at the pump meter until every single drop of petrol goes into the car. So was the case this warning. Even the meter showed that it had added all the fuel of 500rs. But the fuel didnt get aded into the car

Dear it is not about getting out of the car and see the meter. The thing is that the meter shows exact amount of fuel/ price for which you have asked for. I had encounters with different pumps where meters run fast and the fuel is not in the quantity it should be. ppl Try PSO in I-9 Markaz islamabad, i have doubts on this pump too. Please give your feedback.

Did you guys check 'ZERO' reading on meter? Let me tell you few practices here. 2-3 days ago i went to get fuel in my bike. A man was ahead of me on Honda 125, he asked for Rs. 200 petrol. The guy started filling. at Rs. 60 he intentionally stopped filling. He said 'meter trip kar gaya hai mei 140 ka aur dal deta hon' meanwhile he asked the bike guy to turn fuel 'off' to avoid bike getting over. As soon the bike guy looked down the pump guy started filling from 60 and stopped on 140. In this way he put in 140 rs petrol and collected 200 rs. and cashier was with him in order to get bikers attention from kisok.

Another practice which usually happens with the bikers which i have seen. A bikers comes n asks for Rs. 30 pertol. gets his fuel n goes. the next one comes and says 100 rs petrol ( i'm just assuming prices). the pump guys try to get bikers attention to somewhere else, specially turning petrol off to avoid bike getting 'over'. as soon the guy looks down the pump guy will start putting fuel from 30 to 100. so they gave him 70 rs petrol and collected 100 rs.

What i do is keep looking at meter, whatever the guy says. I say just put in fuel. They sometimes try to get in front of me n meter, I simply ask him to step aside and show me zero reading on meter.

Three simple rules that I follow when fueling at the pump:

1) Always get out of the car and check whether the meter has been initialized.
2) Always fill the tank right up to the top (i mean till the level where I can see gasoline myself)
3) Never-ever ever ever go to PSO.

Alhamdulillah never been duped by anyone in these years.....

Yeah this happened with me once was getting petrol for 500, he filled 400 using this system... Was in a hurry so didn't do anything but afterwards was cautious..

There is another age old practice where they do not have a price pre-set for fuel filled on stations. You ask the guy to fill say 100 Rs. He will always fill 98.xx or 99.xx. Never have I seen a guy fill 100.01 even for 100.
I'd rather be considered a miser and collect those coins to later give it to some one who will fill his hungry stomach.
Total near Jinnah Park in Pindi did this to me at least 7 times out of 10 past visits. 298.xx not even 299 for 300. When I stopped to inquire, he said, the guy with the change has gone for prayer or gave me some other pretty novel excuse.
Earlier it used to be Petrol stations but now most have a pre-set.

Police welfare petrol pump on Montgomery Road Lahore is run by Police. They are also Chor and try to rip of where ever they can. They try to fool this way:

You - "Please fill Rs. 1,000 worth of fuel"

After filling like two litre they will stop.

When you ask what happened?

Police - "Sorry we thought you asked for Rs. 200 petrol"

Then they refill additional Rs.800 and claim full one 1,000. You get two litre fuel plus fuel for Rs.800. This way they rip off about Rs. 70.

They tried this twice with me.

Yes managers are chor number one. They ask the staff to do it this or thay way for a certain cut.

In US you can even insert bills in the machine and then fuel yourself. Self service!

I saw this on a deserted highway after mid night and even there was no CHOWKIDAR or anybody:D. I was wandering no one will break the cash machine

well i always go to f7 shell for cng or petrol so yeah those guys are really good at service etc once i asked the guy too fill cng for 200 rs and paid the *GUY WHO TAKES THE MONEY * 200 and i just looked at the meter and the guy was crossing 200 so i just got ou tnad shouted stop bhai 200 ki dalni thi and at tht time it was around 225 rs so the cashier dude said sorry and didnt take the additional 25 rs P.S this was the time i started going there and now i go there almost everyday so most of the guys there know me so they never did anythngliek this too me yet

Yup and who can check quality of petrol. I worked abroad for nearly four years and never needed tuning; changing plugs was a far cry.

this is a common source of fraud in pakistan mainly on the motorway. you ask guy to fill tank up and as soon as he starts he says sorry sir pump has tripped at 100/200/rupees and he will have to start again. it has actually been stopped at 10/20 rupees but we just accept his story then pay at the end the amount on the pump plus either 100/200 extra. caught them in the act once and kicked up massive fuss with the workers there saying i was wanting to call the police etc and they begged me to go and would not charge for any of the fuel i got so i did. got a free tank of fuel but if they are doing this all day it was nothing to them.
