Beware on motorway at night

@ahmadbila thanks god you are safe and I think the damage isn't that much. But do get ur radiator checkedup for any minor cracks and/or leakages.

In such instances we should lodge a complaint with Motorway administration. What other options we poor pakistanis have in such cases especially M2? Any suggestions??? One way is to call 130 and tell them about such a problem. But what about the loss? Don't you guys think that M2 should share the responsibility in such a situation?? after all, they are charging us the toll so they should keep the road clear of such things at all times.

Strangely, almost similar incident happened with me right in front of Sukhekhi interchange at around 10-11pm on my way to Islamabad, when something hit my car and the tyre wall got damaged back in January. I was driving mehran whose lights were not good enough. I couldn't spot the thing on the road, only that it was something around 1 ft high...i tried to steer my poor mehru at around 100km/hr speed (braking it at that speed is simply out of question) but still hit it with a bang yet the tyre didn't immediately blew up and i kept going till another 700-800m. By that time tyre was flat. We better mark Sukheki interchange as a potential disaster area.

the damage could ve been much worse. God forbid, if i was 2 inches to the left, it could ve toppled the car over. the problem is that at high speed u cannot even switch lanes so quick, although i was at 110 but still i did nt change lane, just steer to right slightly. nothing else is damaged, thank GOD.

Good to hear you are safe, once a person on bike who was coming from wrong side and we both take the turn I didn't see him as he as coming from the wrong side, God knows which part of his bike hit my tyre and it's just burst. He didn't even feel to say sorry for it.

Almost I too was in the same condition a few weeks ago on M2...but it was not a stone/rock, it was a safety cone/traffic cone lying in the fast lane (must have fallen off from a vehicle) as it laying somewhere where it should not be... the road had a cure and I had just fraction of a second to avoid direct front impact...lost the rear mud flap...but luckily there was no car close to me because the cone flew couple of feet in the air.

the tire is repairable. get it vulcanized. my brother once blew two tires on my car but we had them vulcanized and i used them for a long time afterwards. the process is very reliable. i traveled on the motorway with those tires and they never were a problem, although they were much more seriously damaged than your tire.

I will try to look for a Turkey (a bird) damage pictures I had few years ago on highway. took away all my left fender, hood damage, wind screen plus one headlight. :S

must be one hell of a turkey
actually it depends on the weight. a turkey could weight upto 10kgs, so it could have devastating effects.

That was the safest thing u have done, any other sudden move by u would have disastrous consequences.

yes, rim is fine. though it did get deep scratches but thats alright, rims are 5 years old now and have many scratches already... thanks for ur concern

steering quick or braking hard is death trap on high speed's
you are lucky in the sense, damage is repairable

lhr till sukheki is dangerous. people have been looted on this patch many times. @ahmadbila since you are a frequent traveller at night, you must have noticed police mobiles standing on mway at night. that is not mway police but normal city police. they stand at sensitive areas to help in such unfortunate occurences.

especially sheikhupura till lhr is considered more dangerous. this factor can also not be eliminated.

just for info, in the last incident that i know of, 7 cars were looted. a full big tree was put in the middle of the road to stop cars.

yes i ve seen police on m2 many times! never knew it was dangerous in this regard too. though long long ago, my dad was driving a brand new 2.0D on m2 and someone threw a brick on the windscreen! dad steered slightly and the brick hit the fender but instead of stopping, he floored the pedal and reported to m2 police later. next day, newpaper headlines read that dozens of cars were looted on m2... though i ve personally never faced such things (thank GOD) but i ll take care from now. i usually travel very late at night. you are right, cars ati jati rehti hain no issue...
