Cntd... Day 05
It was also interesting to observe scenery on both sides of the glacier was totally different.Though mountains were on both sides but they were different. Right side they were made of strange rocks and giving way to slit covered glaciers in between while on left you see the mountains are less in height but covered with snow, there were many small glaciers kissing Biafo Glacier, behind them lies the great Haramosh range.

Once again we started crossings some wild and wide crevasses. Here the crevasses become quite bigger and wider and you have to walk in a wavy pattern to find shorter opening to jump. You can see some snaps of these crevasses we experienced that day and realize by yourself.

We initially planned to reach snow lake on same day and do camp on the snow but we were more and more tired due to height, my guide suggested to stay instead on Karphogoro which is dry and rocky campsite. I agreed unwillingly as I really wanted to see Snow Lake today but I could see group was not ready. Besides the weather was changing every minute and to enter snow lake we needed a lot of preparation and caution.
Now the place was opening more, giving way to this wider end of Biafo glacier and snowlake... It seems appropriate to mention here that this place actually makes you realize remoteness of the area and the wilderness feeling it has got for the visitors. There is ice everywhere, snow covered mountains, rocks, Biafo is about to disappear in snow lake and clouds settling in and out every now and then. Wind is blowing with a strange romantic fragrance you won’t experience anywhere else. A perfect place for a nature lover, mountain addict or a crazy trekker. There is no habitat several days from here, no life around.... A killing scenery that can mesmerize you totally. Now I knew why I was here, these were the moments I was to collect and recall afterwards for a long time. They will serve as fresh air, oxygen mask for the days I stay away from mountains.

We reached Karphogoro at 6 pm only to feel desperation for Snowlake our destination for next day, that night I couldn’t sleep properly due to excitement.

The campsite is dry but very unfriendly, space is limited and then you camp over rocks that made everything uneven.
