Bike Trip North 2021
Day 02.
Breakfast and departure:9:15am
Astore: 11:30am
Chillam Chowki: 14:05pm
Sheosar Lake: 14:30pm
Kalapani: 15:30pm
Took off from hotel, had breakfast and got the bike checked. I moved towards Astore but a landslide on the way took some time to get cleared. Reached Astore, got some food packed and moved towards Chillam Chowki. Now the catch was, I needed to reach before 2:30 or they would not allow entry into Deosai. Well, that I managed. BTW, the mates were now gone and so I gathered up with some new bikers. Finally entered Deosai.
It is a whole different world out there. Deosai is like love, once it bites you, you have to commit, but it treats you like a moody partner after that. Difficult terrain, steep climb and strangely satisfying scenery. On entry even before my first stop, I was greeted with sudden hailstorm. Took shelter in a tent hotel on site and waited it out. Meanwhile the owner gave me tea and food and again tea, but despite insisting he refused to accept payment as he said I was a guest. Well, moving on i saw Sheosar lake suddenly presenting itself and it literally left me speechless. That view is undescribable. Will show pictures later,( first read on). You can see how perfectly things have been placed strategically to remind you of Allah's magnificence.
I anchored at Kalapani camping site. Had grilled chicken and slept at 8 pm. Severe headache and cold weather, topped up with high altitude and low oxygen level, this place is real tough. Late night had a full view of Milkeyway. You need to be there to believe the scene. Clear sky has a view of its own in Deosai. It's deafening silence is something you can hardly handle. You do hear sounds of drum from far far away, but here is no one. It's your own heartbeat.
