Bixenon FX-R 2.5 projector Retrofit Altis 2012 [In Progress]

Hi, DAV111 i have a 2012 Gli auto, do u recommend to retrofit the original headlights supplied with the car or to buy an aftermarket pair for the retrofit? And if the lights can be sealed properly or not also what should be the price of aftermarket/OEM headlights, your suggestions please?

if you are going for pnp projector kit then original lights can be used and this process can be reversed if you don't some low beam reflector if you go for other projectors which require modification and alterations with headlight assembly then go for chinese oem lights.glue used in headlight sealing is butly which melts when you warm the headlight that means it doesnt go anywhere so you will need no extra sealant just heat the headlights and join the lens with some pressure.you are good to go as they get cold

Any vague idea about the price of the taiwanese copy of 2012 corolla headlights, please

i think they cost around 10 t0 11k and chinese cost 7k

dav111: Thanks for the projectors, got them a couple hours ago. Look top notch. (Highly recommended seller!)

Some pictures from my side. Have to buy a couple ballasts and i'll be all set. Tested the projectors with a torch and the cutoff is crisp.

Thanks. Yup, I've researched on what ballast to use and 35W is perfect for it. I am either going to get the retrofit done if I use the original headlamps or do it completely myself if I can find a cheap used pair from a scrapyard or so. I will try to have a guide.

Have already marked the aiming markers in my garage LOL!

if you can get other headlights then you can smoke the lowbeam reflector and bezel to make projector more prominet but if you are not in smoking then use original headlights and as you wont alter them and to open headlights get a box in which one headlight can fit and place a hair dryer in such away that it does not directly throw air on headlight as temp rises till 60 then take them out and pry

to get rid of flicker using capacitor method
This is called a smoothing or reservoir capacitor. What it does, is on a Positive pulse, it charges, and in between pulses it slowly discharges. The bigger the capacitor, the slower the discharge:
you need to do, it simply splice a capacitor between the +12V and GROUND wire leading to the Latching relay, such as my diagram below shows:

If so there are three wires for that connector. Which one is the positive as RED usually is but they did not use red.

you might want to add some resistance in series with the capacitor... initialy at the start when the cap starts to charge its a direct short for a short while.

capacitor should be 4700uf 25v polarized capacitors,positive of capacitor should be connected to red or positive wire of ballast and negative side of capacitor should be connected with black or negative wire of ballast.bro those 3 wires are just for signal,main power goes form relay harness you should connect negative of cap with grounding of ballast

The best way to battle an incessant flicker problem is installing a 4700uF capacitor in between the positive and ground wire’s on the input line to a normal relay harness. Despite any pulsing signals from the factory harness, the inline capacitor will store a charge and release it smoothly into the relays for uninterrupted operation.

Yup, I'm familiar with the concept. I used capacitor when I made a portable charger for iPhoneto smooth the current to the phone. Dunno why I didn't think of it to apply here.

What he mentioned is that a capacitor acts as a short circuit for a small period of time when a dc voltage is applied across its terminals. and when its fully charged, it acts like an open circuit. so if you only connect capacitor between +ve and -ve (ground) of battery, for a short period of time you are actually shorting +ve and -ve of battery but if you add a resistance in series, it will protect the circuit from this shortage.
