BMW 5-series E34 NEEDED

^^ the stereotype reminds me of an ustad adage in Pakistan for old mercedes automatic gearboxes leaking at the sump.

The complain that it leaks from the edges and the old jenyan "packing" is not made any more. Any guesses for the problem?

they overtorqued the bolts! - a max torque of 6 lb/ft is recommended as the gasket is a rubber channel and the bolts sit outwards to it, if one overtorques the pan it can roll the gasket and leak, warp the thin metal pan too. I always used an in/lb torque wrench and they never ever leaked. Same with my car here. Do it correctly and it will work like it should. Do it "tukka" or "andaaza" etc and your chances of failure go up.

btw there was a stalled out E34 parked in Deinfa motors for the longest I can recall - it was LHD 525i, dont recall what was wrong with it.

Yeah that's what local ustaad jee's would say here, makes me want to laugh on their faces.

I remember myself as a poor student with a requirement for a small torque wrench, I made do with a pull scale and calculating the applied torque by measuring the spanner/ratchet length.

Absolutely xulfiqar 100% agreed, but how many people owning a bmw has knowledge at par with you and the reality on ground is that 99% of the people go to ustaads for their car's repair.

Absolutely xulfiqar 100% agreed, but how many people owning a bmw has knowledge at par with you and the reality on ground is that 99% of the people go to ustaads for their car's repair.

Those people are shooting themselves in the foot if they cannot locate or afford a good repairs shop. This was the usual case with Fiat Uno diesel too, they used their old ustaad who had made in china POS worn out dirty tools and did not want to invest any time making or even trying to study how to work on it.

And as far as I can remember, the Ssangyong Rexton had the same fate in Pakistan, local ustaads were used to fix the cars and ruined them, an under-rated machine I'd say.

not yet... i used to see the car on almost daily basis when i used to go out but havent seen it since u posted the thread i ve also asked a friend to locate the guy if he can. he lives nearby but im not sure where. i ll definitely get back to u when i get in contact with him.

its non.coustom.paid:P he is asking 7lacs fir it blue colour its full.option isb.no but non.coustom.u.have to wait till goverment opens the amensty scheme again:D

@poster I admire your enthusiasm we need guys like you to keep this motorsport tradition alive, might i recommend a MB like a 190e and fit it with a cosworth or a w124 with something from AMG......gudluck!!!

Haha, so that was a no since parent's approval for a project car is necessary otherwise they won't let me sell off the City I have, and I can't afford two project cars at the same time

hmm - so by that rationale you would like to buy a BMW or MB and pay good money for it but not pay for its genuine replacement parts because they are expensive.. How does that make sense.

Customers who cannot afford such vehicles should not buy such vehicles.

Your mother needs to drive a 400E or E420 in a W124 shell on a twisting road around some mountains (lots near the coastal highway) She would reword her opinion. Even a E320 would make her think otherwise,

beware - dont let her near a 500E (none I know in Pakistan tho) - you might never ever get permission to drive that thing ever again. Its as brutal in performance as it is subtle in looks.

An absolute hoot and a half would be to get a W140 600SEL (one dead one was at Aristocars for the longest time - both ECUs failed along with 2 more interior module failures) - That car is epic. 250 km/h - no problem YAWN.

She's a W140 fan, she had a 98 manufactured S500 W140 in Jeddah, that thing was amazing, she just thinks lowly of the W124 so I can't argue with her or convince her. W140's are expensive over here and even if I find one, I'm afraid I wont be able to care for it.

So I'm sticking to the E34 even though I absolutely adore the W140.
