The first problem appears with the car. I was going on the highway and temp gauge kept on dropping a lot. The car was also very noisy at high RPMs and i could tell that it was the fan. I did some research and found out that the clutch that engages or disengages fan can get stuck causing the fan to run at the same RPMs as the engine even if the car is cold. The max speed the fan is supposed to do is 2400 RPMs or so but mine was doing as much as the engine was, which could be dangerous because the fan was not built to with stand such forces. It can shatter its wings and the pieces can go through whatever is in their way. So, fan clutch was bought. It has a gel inside it which spreads when heated beyond a certain point causing the clutch to engage and then the opposite.
The car was cooling down because on highways when the RPM is high and so i speed, a lot of wind is already passing through the radiator but the fan, being engaged all the time, was also pulling air through and causing all the heat loss.
Running a cold engine can cause many problems, im sure many people are unaware of that. The oil cools down and becomes less effective in reducing friction hence more wear and tear on engine. Also, the engine expands and contracts at a different rate and can cause a crack in the block etc.
