Let’s not forget the turbo-charged engine. BMW plans to take out the 5.0L V10 engine with 507HP, to replace it with the more powerful, turbo-charged V8 engine. According to AutoExpress, the X5M and X6M model would come with the twin-turbo V8 engine with the 564HP output.
And that the M5 would get a higher rate at 600HP
– the most powerful BMW five series ever!

I have been a BMW ///M5 fan myself
but this new one doesn't have the striking looks like the current one has IMHO
don't why cars are getting uglier day by day
but coming back to this car now It will give the CTS-V and the Jag a hard time but lets wait till the E63 Black Series arrives shall we ?

But newer info from insiders reveal that TT V10 based on the current S85 V10!! Power figures... But nevertheless...I should appreciate any contributing Amreekan!!

here come the fanboys who all forget that AMG has been spanking ///M since day 1,... and for gods sake dont compare race cars to street/productioin cars.

however i must point out that the current M3 is a tour de force! (even though the C63 spanks it too)

Could I ask what is your source for comparing the AMG and M engines for relibility. I ask as having owned and kept an M5 myself for over 7 years, I can assure you my friend's E55 made lots more trips to MB garage for various problems compared to my M5. Obviously this could be just my personal experience. And finally, of course his E55 had lots more horses under the bonnet.

I disagree with the statement that AMG has been spanking BMW M from day one. AMG was all about power until recently, they weren't really interested in making a car handle and lacked driver involvement. Only specialty cars that were developed by HWA (CLK DTM) were hitting above BMW M. And only recent cars like the CLK63 BS, SL65 BS, and C63 are true BMW M competitors. Even the new SL63 isn't all that great in terms of being a drivers car.

^go back to the 70's, the AMG W & C123's were running 5.0 V8's,... even alpina couldn't come up with a decent 5 series competitor for these cars.

in the late 80's the W201 (cosworth, evo & EVOII) could outhandle & outperform the E30 M3 & M3 Evoultion (even though the M3 evo was for me probably the best weekend track car ever made - LDH only)

in the 90's the W202 C36, C50 & ultra rare C55 slapped the sh*t out of the E36 M3 & M3 evolution.

The Cosworth Evo's were impressive but did they really outperform the M3s on the street? And the C36 and C55 were no match against the M3. Those cars sure had more power but they couldn't come close to the M3 in terms of handling.

Also, if we go back to the 70s then you can't forget about the BMW 3.0 CSL which won six touring car championships and numerous other races.
