Hi, Ive seen a couple threads on here discussing the legality of body change but I always seem to find confusing answers. Some say it is illegal while others say it is legal. Can someone say for once and for all if it is legal or not? And if it legal, then what to what extent? Is there actually something known as a body tax or is that a lie? Can we put a different car model's body on a different car's chassis (without altering chassis, as I know chassis alteration is definitely illegal, right?)? For example, G Wagon on Land Rover Defender chassis? Or LX570 on Cruiser V8? Kindly guide. Can we put a newer generation of the same car model on an older generation chassis? (again assuming chassis doesn't have to be altered, etc). Waiting on reply, thanks.

Same Shape (facelift) same year body swap is legal.

Year model body upgrade is illegal.

a military auction RKR (fractured shell) soft top has been swapped to hard top from Kala Dhaka for Rs. 350,000 in Dec 2021 registered with KPK excise Jan 2022, after diesel engine swap.

Does one need to get the body change registered or authorized by Excise?

It doesn't seem right as the next owner/s have the right to know that to what level their car has been modified and tempered with. I believe in first world it is a requirement to register such modifications.

tampering ?? the frame number is over the chassis rail. So tampering is out of question, in body over rail vehicles. If you read carefully you can understand, facelift variant body shell of same shape & year is not against law.

MONOCOQUE body swap is illegal when firewall frame number is surgically implanted over new vehicle through plasma torch.
