Assalam-o-Alaikum, Brothers!

I have a Toyota Hilux Pickup 4x2 1996 model which is almost dead. I'm looking forward for a Body swap with Hilux Surf 2004-2010. I once got an estimate from a guy in Shoba Market for the complete body swap in 2009, and that was Rs.900,000.

Now, as the Pickup is almost dead, I want an update whether it is possible to get it done, where to get it done from (as I want the entire body, engine and complete interior changed), and how to get it legalised.

Plus, if any experienced brother can guide me, how much expenditures does it cost overall?

What you are trying to do would not be considered legal & there isn't any possible way to legalize it.
If you swap with the body from a 1996 Hilux that would be legal but changing the shape completely is not legal.

Totally illegal....... No way it can be legalized......you can swap the body of a pickup with a pickup and as you mantioned that it is a 4x2 then the swap will be with a 4x2..

Alright, thanks for the sincere advice. But if at all I want to swap it with 4x2 pickup, then where should I get on from near Rawalpindi/Islamabad, and how much would that cost?

No idea about cost but in lhr khan shanwari auto have full pick up bodies i visited his shop 2 weeks ago

Complete swap in Quetta is possible including each n everything but will cost you more then the restoration ur self......start it with body parts swap as suggested above then change of engine or overhaul....

I've got 2 doors for a hilux double cab I think there drivers side. 2002 to 2005

I would advice against it, just get denting painting done and you are good to go.

Thanks a lot, brothers! I really appreciate the honest concerns and advices provided by all. And enlightening me. And have finally decided to just go for same year and type. As I believe, legal should stay legal.

body sway may it be of same year is ILLEGAL as per customs. unless you pay the body custom.

if the seller can provide you with a receipt & scarp-metal clearance document mentioning shell (body) code, you can comfortably swap & get endorsement on the regn book. 2004 onwards toyota pick up trucks of HiLux family & SUVs of Prado family have the frame numbers over the right or left side frame rail. ( depending on RHD or LHD version ) - this is legal way -

the other way is take only papers to Kala Dhaka buy a NCP SUV of choice get surgery done over the identification numbers of vehicle of your choice. drive home, get the other pickup butchered & wait for customs intelligence raid or road side arrest of vehicle.

last - suggestion .... dispose off the dead truck save the money & pray to ALLAH (swt) to give you enough spare financial strength to buy a vehicle of your choice. ALLAH (swt) be with You .

there is a case of shell change going on at a garage near society office, Karachi the shell is imported legally as scrap (scrap shells are always in half cuts - though it is intact and 100,000 is paid to customs appraiser to keep eyes closed for shiny clean shell declared as scrap) - The vehicle is Toyota Land Cruiser VX Limited 2007 model and imported shell is of 2011 limited edition customs taxes etc plus 100000 to examiner /appraiser shell costed approx 1.35 mil. anyone knowing the area can check the 1st street garages behind the church -

How I know it ?? - The person who sold it in sharjah is cousin to my driver, the right-off vehicle arrived from Thailand as Rain flood damage scrap in Sharjah junk yards & useless for a left hand drive country.
