Bolt in Cold air intake for city 2010

there is a big problem in this air filter piping setup it does not have a plenum anywhere, the plenum is provided for the air to "accordion' in it when the throttle blade closes. It is done considering the mass of air as it requires some time to move and similarly some time (and space) to stop.

Are you talking about mine? If yes then as long as I'm getting more power and reasonable economy at the same time, I'm pretty much satisfied with it. I might just try making a plenum for this myself in summers, I'd love more even air distributed among all the cylinders so yeah, worth a shot.

I misread the IAT sensor part, my bad, guilty as usual
My ECU is tuned accordingly so that plays a big part here, and yes it's an EFi of course.

and no my current car doesn't have the 'so called cold air intake' that most people have here, it's a Simota and it goes down to the bumper vent

My civic however has the Simota Aeroform Air Intake, still there's increase in economy, but again, the ecu programming hits in here. Here's a picture of it from my build thread:

The filter was a brand new K&N with a Simota assembly, but the car's ecu was programmed due to the upgrades, which were useless without a tune.

The one posted in the picture is not a CAI if that's an original picture, it's more of a short ram.

[I]your current ecu might have been tuned with lower I.D.C in higher vacuum columns(idle+cruise columns) in the low cam table! however the intake setup you have is good but not really a cold air intake remember air intake setups work with the following theories
Air turbulence(-/+)
Vacuum(-/+)
absolute pressure
atmospheric pressure

your intake setups still is sucking hot air from the surroundings and while cruising in higher vacuum as becus the speed of the airflow is less it just sucks from the surroundings you never know unless you datalog the iat values
btw what setup are you running? is it a d17a? single vtec dual vtec? d16w9? and how did you managed to tune the ecu?
where do you live? temprature ratings?

Like I said, my current daily driver has a Simota that runs down to the bumper and the filter sits near the bumper vent. This one is the Aeroform I later mentioned, not really a CAI.
It's a D16W9 Dual Vtec, a good friend was keen enough to source me a donor ecu, it's a K-pro, Crower Stage 2 Camshaft, Crower valve springs and retainers.
I'm based in Karachi for now

My suggestion, don't install it, if you really want one, get something that's manufactured specifically for your car.

Not a fan of forced induction so yes N/A was the path I chose.
It's not operating in dual vtec mode for now, will try to work around in summers, right now exams and another project are keeping me busy.

Car was tuned by Akbar Automobile Works, these people have been there in business since the 80's, really know what they're doing.

My friend has the exact same setup in Nevada and his car puts around 150+ whp and 130+ lbs ft. torque after the K-pro, so I'll be expecting similar figures, more than enough for a daily driven car, fuel economy isn't bad either. Who says D16W9 is not a good motor

It's all about the tuning, internals and how you drive it, I know people with the same setup as mine and they haven't faced any problem in a period of 5 years

nor i did in the span of 12 years with my d16w9,it clocked around 200k kms.
problem with d16w9 is that its not high rev friendly motor,have damn fragile internals when it comes to tuning purpose.one needs heavy work+investment to make it work like an allmotor and atlast it fetch quite less than other honda motors like b16,b20,k20,r18 etc.

Usualy we see MAI(Mass Air Intakes) on carby cars n incase if its susuki Simota Carby filter is better then Crap local filters atleast

two stroke mineral oil is cheap, and its the original recommended oil for their air filters (where applicable)

6psi is no load,not at all a big deal.seen D's runnig at 11psi at stock internals but my point is that d's are not meant for this purpose,if we relate a D with a B....that tells what my point is.D's are not rev friendly motors.

You're talking stock internals here, mine doesn't have stock setup sir, a lot changed, need to update my thread as well

Nice info and which oil shall we use for bathing the filter?

two stroke oil, PSO, shell, caltex etc sell it - mix with some carrier like petrol and spray it on the filter, the motorcycle manual tells you to bathe the filter in oil and squeegee it out with a cloth so its only damp and not dripping.
