Hi brothers,
Just bought a boon 2007, regd 2012, 3rd owner, 3 days ago. Made the deal 10 days ago. I am facing an issue regarding over heat. The car becomes over heated on AC and without AC. Even if I drive it for 4 kms on AC, it becomes hot. The hot sign doesn't appear while driving but does appear when I switch off the engine amd turn the ignition ON. In the morning, when the car is cold, Cold sign appears after turning the ignition ON. Car isn't jerking or shaking at all. Coolant doesn't get low either. Fan is on auto, I checked it up on idle without AC and starts running after 11-12 mins for 20-30 secs and stops, starts after 2-3 mins for 20-30 secs, stops and so on. Just after I feel its getting hot by putting my hand on the bonnet, I remove the oil lid, white smoke comes out. I smell as if the oil is burning. When I made the deal, I checked the oil gauge and it was perfect but the smoke was coming out of the lid and two days ago I took the delivery, checked the oil gauge, it was low. Filled up the engine oil with the one being used by previous owner, zinc something... took about 2 litre. Since then I am driving, almost done 120 kms and the oil is ok. Its not reduced. Engine drops water... my mechanic told me to replace the radiator (double naali wala) as it is getting over heated and the oil is burning inside. I went to the radiator guy, he checked anf said the same. He said radiator ki jali hawa exhaust nahe kar rahi... replace it. Had the original radoator serviced yesterday and that guy said same thing. Besides, I am getting 12.25 km/litre average. Is it the radiator issue? Ring pistons? I don't think its the ring pistons since silencer doesn't exhaust white fume or white smoke but removing the oil lid does and it smells like the oil is burning. Could someone please help out? I really don't want to mess up with my car. Could someone enlighten me whats wrong or can tell me a good mechanic for these cars in Karachi?
