btw, has anyone played with the new canon SX200? It is not a dSLR but seems quite close to it with all the manual features, 12X zoom plus it uses DIGIC 4.
To me dSLR on vacations seems a hassle.

Nope but I was looking at the Canon Sx1 IS for the same reason you mention, taking DSLR's to man y places is not possible so after some research I settled on the Nikon P90, my first ever Nikon havent used it too much as yet as I got it 2-3 weeks back but so far very happy with it.

SX200 is even more compact than SX1 but is 12X zoom rather than 20X. Check this link out:

Read it, very nice ! I like the 12x optical zoom and the Digic 4 processor plus its got HD movies so for a compact camera its got all the nice features. A bit expensive but worth it as a flagship compact camera should be

autophile, get an external nikon flash with bounce head. Snap the photos of same inside place with external flash head pointed to ceiling. You will see 100% difference in your photos. You will thank me for sure afterwards

ppl having dslrs, get external bounce flash if you want to enjoy you indoor photos.
