I will still go for a Japanese car for a daily driver. But that doesnt means I'd buy any Tom dick and harry 660cc for the price of a new mehran.

I'd definitely see if a mehran suits me better I'd get a mehran and not a 660cc dragging it going over a bridge

Good to hear that but you cannot judge a vehicle online just because you have imported numerous cars. That's my point.

Going with Mehran would be your personal decision but I would not want to pay around .8 million for a piece of trash.

You can import a car definitely. Just that the money now comes from the same passport holder whoose only passport was used previously.

Nothing is changed. Just the price for the passport has gone up. It will come down to. Rest all duty etc everything is same.

Yes, the body quality of a toyota is similar across the globe, thats exactly what toyota are famous for. They can lower cost of parts like add ons

let me examplify a cheap part in corollas of USA, they have fixed side view mirrors, no fold or anything (almost all cars in USA are like that though) - they are power adjustable though, thats about it.

The airguide pieces under the car are flimsy and bend between finger and thumb, The shifter console assembly is snapped together, The seam sealer is applied very sloppy on the whole car, and they dont even bother to clear coat inner pieces like bonnet and bootlid, However the cooling system and AC is heavy duty and the floormats are slightly thicker. Rear drum brakes, front discs.

so please go ahead and purchase a brand new car from outside of Pakistan and import it yourself - corolla will cost you 8 million PKR though.

I beg to differ on this because we have own a Rolla and Civic in UAE and to be honest what I see on the roads here is completely different. I am not sure if UAE imports all of there vehicles. But hey, are Toyota even famous in USA because I think other vehicles are widely used there like GMC, Lexus, Subaru, Volvo etc.

no-one is going to pay 1000 USD to replace an automatic transmission with a junkyard one on a car worth 1200/- (old corolla) - toyota corolla 05 etc, automatics fail at 200,000 miles (TCC failure) - repair costs are USD 4000/- for a rebuilt one - car is worth 3500/-

off to the junkyard to get their 300 dollars for it.

back to point, the interior and suspension parts installed on american made corollas are inferior to even Indus Made corolla parts. They literally crumble to bits or are shot after 5 or 6 years.

But eventually its everywhere. Even the cinema ticket sells for a higher price, even the cricket match ticket sells for a higher price. That's how It works.

As said above. I walked into Toyota Eastern Motors, booked the car as they didnt have any ready, they called a month later and I paid for it and drove off.

Or are you too naive to understand that its the same as stockhoarding any other product in the market, In this case the dealership is hoarding it with "investors" - how many ads do you see on PW itself selling new cars for "discounted own" money - LOL

Any car you will buy on premium in Pakistan will have a "person" attached to it because the original sale price is fixed.

Any premium own money car you buy has that persons name right on the shipping invoice - next time you buy a car, have someone translate the transaction to your level of understanding - lots of small lawyers offer this service.

Why was the vehicle booked in the name of the dealership?
Why are hundreds of vehicles booked in the name of dealerships? Do they give them out for free? Who sells these vehicles to private owners? Who signs the transfer letters?
