You get that from authorized parts dealers too.. Showroom's peace mind is temporary. They hardly ever have trained staff, won't be long before you experience bad things from their inexperienced technicians, will ask about your peace of mind then

True that in most of the cases... I still remember how pathetic technical staff suzuki ali motors (jail road) had... After just 30,000 KMs or so they deemed my new car's engine as gone just because it reduced engine oil ..and they gave an estimate of 22000 PKR back in 2009 (i guess) for whole engine over haul.

Thanks God i didnt believe them because i drove that same car for 100,000 kms before selling it 7 years later and the engine was in such good condition that even the buyer culdnot stop himself from praising it

The reason of engine oil reduction which i later analyzed was that suzuki had shell as their partner so they were pouring shell helix ultra but then they switched to zic so they started puring zic... the issue started only after pouring zic ..so they might had some 2 number oil in lot....

Update is i went to another mechanic ..he said the noise is because the rotors werent tooled so he said tooling will resolve the issue ...

After removing tires he said the rear drums dont require tooling but the front rotors do ...so tooling was done on front rotors

But even after that the noise is still there ...i went to him again and told him ...now he is saying brake pads are faulty ...

When same was communicated to my old mechanic who installed these ...he refuted saying these are 100% japenese and there are no issues and he installs the same brake pads on most of the cars he get and has never faced any issues ..he also said that the issue is that the tooling wasnt done right

Now i am stuck with both of them and i already have spent 10k so far !!!!

It's a simple case of old rattling clips. The pads are moving around when applying brakes hence making this click sound especially when hot. Either clean them with nicely with steel wires buffing and then lubricate them with good quality silicon grease. Or just install a new ones all around. Most company recommend to change them as well with pads.

I had the same issue resolved with honda and Mitsubishi.

These arsehole mechanics will rip you off with these unnecessary repairs, unki dukan kaise chale gi. OEM brake pads are good if they are genuine.

Ok so here is the update

1) tooling done on both front rotors

The sound from front and rear still kept coming

Today spent half of the day and got these things done

1) lubricated front caliper pins (both sides)
2) bleeding done on all four brakes

Results:

The whinning sound has disappeared
The kar kar sound from front is still there
The gar gar sound although has become less frequent but still it is there

I have no idea what to do ...i have spent 10k rupees...wasted 3 days ...got it checked by two mechanics ...

These sounds dont come when the car is cold but only appear when brakes are hot

Now my mechanic is telling me that the last resort is to get rear rotors tooled ..may be that woould resolve the issue but apparently the rotors look fine as per him me and another mechanic ...

I dont know what to do ...

The second mechanic (who actually isnt my mechanic) is saying that brake pads are faulty but my mechnic says its not possible as he has installed these in so many cars and can swear on the fact that these are japanese made ...he also says that all 4 sets of brake pads cant be faulty at the same time !!!

If its bothering you so much, why don't you just go buy oem pads and use them.
Worst comes to worst, if the sound persists, you will have an extra pair of pads which can be utilized once these finish.
The chances are quite high that these after market brake pads are causing the issue, they usually do these issues when the disks aren't new because these pads are less flexible then OEM ones

i already have spent 10k and the OEM pads cost around 18000 (all four sets). which would mean total spending of 28000 plus re installation cost

And even after that if the sounds still persist , means wastage of almost 29000 PKR

It's not wasted, the pads are still usable and will be used in the future, so remove that from the amount "wasted". The disk facing was a necessity, so remove that from the amount "wasted", the labour money is the only thing wasted because your mechanic is either ill-informed or stubborn.
This is a different opinion and perspective, to agree or not is your choice. If you want a cheaper solution, take sand paper and sand blast your current pads till become even.

Genuine ones are not for 5 to 6. Both front and rear are near 10k.

I exactly had the same issues when i changed brake pads of my altis 2012 to non genuine ones. U will have to replace otherwise i remember these non genuine one costed me the brake discs also.

There are metal shims and small stips ehich hold the pads (genuine) in their position and they also need adjustments after some time. Remember the replicas will always have problems.

its a common problem with used cars. mechanic is right noise will go after sometime by its own. dont go to mechanics again and again they will just make issue more complicated. happened with me many times.

As i said your car brakes need polishing and burnishing. Nothing else. Polishing each rotor costs around 400rs/disc... Than install pads than burnish process is as below...
Drive till 50kph speed and gradually press brake till speed is 20kph... Do this for at least 5 times.
Than
Drive till 80kph speed and press brake hard enough but not much that ABS kicks in again till 20kph. Do this for at least 2 times..
Than drive normally after a break of 10 mins. Remember not to TOUCH or drive in water puddle during this process. All braking sounds should vanish.

MK pads be it japanese or thailand ones are hard. You should have gone for ASUKI ADVANCED pads which are soft ones and provide superb braking even cost way less than these japanese counterparts but all is done now polish and burnish. This whole process is DIY apart from polishing.

use original brake pads and the noise will be gone. No need for anything else. And if the car has always been on original brake pads then tooling is also not required for a very long time.

Speaking from experience. These mechanics are sadly liars and crooks.

Bro. Please do what I am suggesting it's not costly. It's a simple case of rattling clips. The clips which hold the pads in caliper. Also use copper anti seeze on the pads front and rattle clips especially where disc moves. Use brake silicone instead of grease on the caliper pins. And that's it. If you don't want to change your old clips then you can do adjustment but lubricating them with right solution is very necessary, normal grease won't hold. Whole procedure will cost around 500 for all four wheels. Rotors and pads are fine if they won't they will make screeching sound. This Kar Kar gar gar is pads moving around.
If in Lahore i am facing the same on my car after my brother changes pads. You can see what kind of sound are coming and how they will vanish.

I have done this treatment on 4 cars still running fine. Also I never go for genuine pads but Japanese akebono or nisshinbo pads, never see problem.

My mechanic says there are no clips ..but yes pins might be the culprit ..he says caliper pins might be loose and require replacement ...but the issue is to purchase caliper pins you also have to buy calipers and they dont come alone ...and kabuli calipers cost 8000 pkr ...but again what if that too doesnt resolve the issue

Kick that mechanic. How can there be no clips. If they are missing that's the issue. If they are present they need adjustment. They are called anti rattling clips search online, Bascially your pads are rattling. Caliper pins cant be bad lubricate them with silicone grease instead of oil grease.

Just do what I suggested it won't cost much but most definitely solve the problem. Otherwise it's your car your mechanic. I just suggested what I faced and after alot of research what solved my issues.

So after trying everything ... long testing runs ... hitting the car on poth holes ... finallt decided to change the brake pads to see whether it changes the result or not ...

After changing the brake pads the kaar kaar sound and gaar gaar sound apparently have disappeared ... so as of now it seems the brake pads were faulty ...wasted 8000 pkr

It is a humble advice not to buy mk kashiyama blue packed brake pads ..they are the worst
