acctually the o4 corolla has 4-wheels disk brakes and with out the ABS(antilock braking system). so the brakes are much effective but it does no prevent from locking.do u know if u have a 19" alloy and 285/45 super soft F1 tyres it will not be a solution.a honda civic VTI 2001 and above models have ABS and its cost is RS 45 thousand.if u apply full brake to a VTI on a road it will never skid and if road is in bad condition it will take more distance to stop and never siked and even if u apply full brake on a gravel then even VTI will not skid and will take much more distance to stop .
so dear brother the braking is not stoping the tires it is to stop the car without skiding, the old corolla do not skid like the new one because it has 2 disks in front and rear are drum brakes . so old corolla`s brakes are not as effective as 2002 above models have.
corolla company knows that if they give poor quality it will not make their sale poor but if they will improve the quality they will have lesser profits
in other parts of the world the corolla selling has ABS since 1995 or 1996.
ABS provids the maximum brake according to the road without skiding.
