The bottom line is that this is now a legal issue and we "armchair investigators" can't do anything about it. This case is now in the hands of the police and the courts and we should all force them to be as transparent as possible with how they handle the investigation and the outcome.
As for people saying that the driver ran, yes he did. I've found out that he was taken to hospital by his friends as he has fractured his rib cage (sternum, i believe it is called) and recieved stitches to his chin. Now none of us know what has happened with him since last night and if he has or has not turned himself in to the authorities so we should stop acting like an angry/misinformed mob. As true muslims we should recite darud sharif and not judge anyone at this moment. The familes of the deceased & injured need our support right now and the best way to do that is to pray for their loved ones. Blaming one side or the other is just pointless and silly at this stage.
Many people have talked about racing and speeding, what I ask them is how often do they obey the speed limit when using public roads? This was a closed "track" (I use this term used very loosely BTW) and these cars were called to provide an event/spectacle & we all know that there are risks involved in all such events. Maybe we could use this as proof that we need proper facilities in this country as well as greater safety measures in general (something i've been saying for years).
I'm a parent and as many of you know I've lost my father only 17 days ago and am still in mourning, so i know (freshly) what it means to lose someone. What many of you don't know is that I lost a brother when i was 8, he was hit by a drunk (army) driver who lost control of his car while my brother was standing on a footpath waiting to cross a street. My parents forgave the man as no punishment (civil or military) given to him would bring my brother back. The army driver was a parent & sole provider to his family. Till this day that man lives with the guilt of what he did and it changed his life. This is something no punishment could have done.
Sorry to go on and on, but my point is, pray to Allah all mighty for those who have died & are injured and please leave the legalities to the families and authorities. I understand that many people are (rightfully) angry at what happened, but if we want justice then leave it to the people who are responsible for upholding the law to do their jobs,.. .and let the truth come out before we jump to any more conclusions and start taking sides.
please, join me in prayer.
