Respected Sir, it seems to me that either you had a faulty corolla or I witnessed faulty lianas. A few of my friends and family members had owned the initial lianas, those cars were extremely fuel thirsty, after a certain time, they started engine trouble but I agree with you that it was a comfortable car simply because it was heavy. The drive though I can't comment on because never really driven it too far.
Coming to the Indus issue you stated, the jdm 101 has a bit of an clearance issue but the Indus motors corolla had no such issue and that can be widely proved by visiting mountainous areas where one only sees jeeps, mehrans and corollas.
And which model liana did you own? They say the liana VURV had all its issues resolved

A few of my friends and family members had owned the initial lianas, those cars were extremely fuel thirsty, after a certain time, they started engine trouble but I agree with you that it was a comfortable car simply because it was heavy. The drive though I can't comment on because never really driven it too far.
Coming to the Indus issue you stated, the jdm 101 has a bit of an clearance issue but the Indus motors corolla had no such issue and that can be widely proved by visiting mountainous areas where one only sees jeeps, mehrans and corollas.
And which model liana did you own? They say the liana VURV had all its issues resolved

bro I have owned three liana one VURU two simpel one was given to father from his company then it was replaced by 7gen civic my father liked the car so much he bought one brand new VURU then it was sold due to financial issue and later we bought another simple one which is recently sold via pakwheels (well not actually via pakwheels but it was advertised on pakwheels as well) and there was no is there difference in VURU or swift version a source in paksuzuki say that paksuzuki doesn't manufacture engine the engine come from japan even the engine of mehran come from japan and the reason of paksuzuki stop producing of alto was similar that japan denied to supply that engine onward which is now same case with cultus which is about discontinue and there were also some ppl saying that the same engine worked fine in swift was becoz of gear ratio difference which is also wrong becoz swift and liana both use same gear box which code is "p34"

plz dont argue about liana and corolla, both r good cars,
@taimoor.sultanchaudhry for long drives, city idsi is a good option, its orignal seats r much comfortable than xli, plus it will give a unbelieveable fuel economy and it is a reliable car too, we have 05 in family and till today it is 421000km driven and stil its very healthy and gives a good fuel economy
another good option is 2.0D Saloon, it will also give a good fuel economy, plus airbags and abs u can find a 08 modle in karachi, i think

bro there is nothing wrong with to tell you the truth 3s ppl are big dumb there a big reason ppl never got there liana fixed 3s the ppl never fixed their customer's car but they ruined giving a fresh example of a liana owner now this guy got his perfectly fine liana tuned from 3s then you can for your what he reported after the so called tunning

Today Dad sent Liana to Suzuki 3S in Karachi for tune up and now the car is missing alot on petrol and started giving patakhas before it was not present there.I am thinking that now they have changed some thing in my car.May be ignition coil,fuel injector or else worst experience with suzuki dealership.

now sharing my experience I once had a issue with my liana ff cng that car started missing and no mechanic at suzuki 3s was able to solve the problem and was advising me to get whole cng kit changed either with after market one or original which will cost me 125k to cut the story short the problem by an cng mechanic in 800rs the oil that come with cng was stuck in injector amd cng kit the mechanic knew that the ff cng kit have oil drain for such situation which the suzuki 3s mechanic didn't know and there is a guy here on pw how have used his liana for 500k 200k on stock engine then he had some coil issue becoz some one at service station washed his car's engine with water then instead of getting them fixed he just swapped the engine with m18a (international liana/aerio engine) then drove more 300k on it so the car covered about 500k except the engine but the prove the reliability

sorry bro I don't agree with on this point a car that give 180-190+km on one 55kg cng tank can't be considered inefficient and the petrol of avg of this car is 12-13km/l which a bit low compared city idsi/I-vtec but not very a bit better than xli/gli

I am one of such few people who have kept Lancer with love and care, and frankly speaking, it is a normal car with normal maintenance I wonder why people made a fuss about it in the first place. So far I have received offers of even 11 lakhs for our 1.3 GLX 2006 so far around 79,000 km driven but no plans to sell it In Shaa Allah.

Let me tell you guys about a recent experience (couple of weeks ago). Please note that we got our tanks filled at exact same spots at the exact same times in Lahore and Islmabad. 5 families went to Islamabad and back on 3 cars listed below:

1- 2008 Liana RXi (129 K Kms) My vehicle
2- 2006 Honda City iDSi( 80K Kms)
3- 2014 Honda City Aspire 1.5 Auto (Less than 5K Kms)

Total distance covered was 950 Kms which included city driving in Islamabad and Lahore with full load (Luggage and full seating). The fuel economy figures were as follows:

1- Liana 12 Km/L
2- City iDsi 12 Kms/L
3- City Aspire 9 Km/L

Now keep in mind that I was the fastest of the lot as there was lots of fog rolling in and I wanted to hurry. The other two did not keep up with me although I was doing around 130 - 135 Km/h.

Liana was also the most torquey with full load on inclines and overtaking.

Now tell me about performance and Economy. Thankfully, I DID NOT listen to my friends and general public when they advised me against buying a new Liana in 2008. Alhamdolillah.

Respected Sir, the liana i knew was used in isb and pindi, the vehicle did 10 and below, a lot of different reasons can cause it. Khair, i shall dig in more into liana and see what happens

I just skimmed through this thread and didn't find many ppl recommending a JDM. I have kept first gen vitz for about 7 years and i've done lahore to karachi trips twice, several trips to Islamabad and northern areas and it never broke a sweat. It's very very reliable and comfortable car. Me and most of my friends found it more comfortable than local corolla of any generation in the long route. One can argue that 1000cc engine is a bit small for highway, but if you obey the speed limits, it never feels strained.

You can probably find an early 2nd gen vitz in this budget, but I don't like it's cvt, but that's my personal preference. Just get a good 2004 model and you'd thank me for years to come.

please do not go for a cultus if your main mode of travelling is via motorway..get a car 1300cc atleast..in 8lacs u can get a 2004 shape clean city.or a 2003 average condition xli .or a 2001-2 civic as well..
and in case ur thinking of getting a 660cc,well i have driven a few and they are quite fast as compared to suzukis..atleast my cultus cant outrun my friends Daihatsu mira no matter wat i do..but at speeds of 100 to 120 their engine is literally screaming..

2. I need a car with efficient fuel consumption. Currently, my father owns a City IDSI 2005 MT and I think it is very fuel efficient.
3. I need a car which is comfortable to drive. I have owned a Cultus previously and I hated how driving it felt, especially when compared with City 05.

The contenders:
1. Honda City IDSI 2005/6 MT
2. Vitz 2004/5
3. Passo 2005/6
4. Alto JDM

The confusion/questions:
I love my father's City 2005 and am inclined to go for City. But having two City's at home doesn't look like a good idea. But on the other hand, going for a hatchback when one can afford a sedan of the same model (year) with a more powerful engine and with an equal or perhaps better fuel consumption, doesn't look like a good idea either. So:
1. Is City really more fuel efficient than Vitz/Passo?
2. How is the drive (feel wise) of Vitz/Passo compared to City 05?
3. I have heard Vitz and Passo are not much different and that I can get around one year later model of Passo compared to Vitz for the same price but that Passo may not be a good car for rough/bumpy roads. Is that right?
4. For the amount of driving I have specified, is Alto JDM a good option (considering the occasional longer journeys)?
5. Considering that in the same price range, I would be able to get a later model of Alto JDM compared to the other contenders, will it require significantly lesser maintenance compared to the others?

I literally fall of the chair laughing after reading your post bro I just shared my experience + there is a complete blog on pakwheels about ae101 in which the guy also wrote about the clearance issue and I don't why u guys are so offend when I say something I say it on the basis of my personal experience beside the corolla are being over rated ok I admit the ae101 was the most solid build corolla by indus but it still over ratted I know car that I can bang in truck and it a whole lot cheaper than ae101 and about the thing of corolla being the best seller bro just go and see tech difference between paki and international corolla + ppl here buy corolla just for resale I literally know a guy how own a civic 7 gen for daily running but bought brand new xli just for resale purpose he doesn't drive the car and that the reason xli/gli sell just becoz of resale ever seen sale of altis and grande a 2008 xli and 2008 altis cost the same but xli holds faster resale and altis doesn't now plz don't tell me xli better (becoz you once said "jis car resale nahi wo bakwass hai" :S) remove the resale factor from corolla and see if even one corolla sell and the quality of IMC suck big time I can bring a complete 2.5 page eassy on user complaining about quality of IMC and about the corolla thing then you didn't saw my comment about city IDSI on 1 page for sure then and BTW with whom I am arguing a fan boy of corolla LOL there many ppl here who just say thing not to mention that their is a guy on pw who claims that he have beaten a civic 7 gen with his gli auto

I know about the build quality of IMC corolla, but it's still one of the best local car in the market, it's made for our roads that's why people buy it so much, there's no resale of the corolla name plate, the resale is of the practicality of that car. AE101 is the most practical sedan in my opinion, it's maintenance is far cheaper than any other sedan on our roads. And if you keep resale aside you'll still get a lot out of that car, I used a Liana before this corolla and maintained it from the dealership but it still had so many issues that you can't even imagine, and my corolla has crossed 70k without even giving a single issue. i own it since 7 years and it still feels like a new car when I drive it. How can you complain about the quality of a corolla after owning a Suzuki? no matter how bad the quality is, it's still far better than Suzuki.

To you sir, I suggest you buy an XEG, corolla 2001. 12 valve gives you 12 in local and 15 in long. Works good with gas as well. Can take any form of beating and survive all kinds of paths and if it's a good car, reliable as any new car
