Building ATV (All Terrain Vehicle)

We, a small group of students from NUST are making ATV for International Competition. We need your help to buy some stuff.
Following are the components required:
1. Uprights:

It will be of this shape. We have designed the whole model on Solidworks, now we need to machine or cast this model. So, I need to know from where can I cast this?

1. Shocks:
   
   We need a pair of 16 inch coil-over shocks for rear and another pair of 12 inch coil-over shocks for front. Can you quote the price and best place to buy it from?

2. Seat:
   
   Please quote the price and best place to buy it from?

4.Steering Rack:

We need 32 mm steering rack (Not power steering).Please quote the price and best place to buy it from?

You can get all these things in lahore, dont know about islamabad/pindi. I did a buggy build a couple of years back and went looking for similar parts and axles etc, i came across a guddam near bilal gunj, the guy had all sorts of go carts, buggies and atv parts there. try and visit any atv shop in your area and you'll eventually end up finding these things. best of luck for the build!

fabricating stuff will be very costly. better off searching for used stuff in second hand market and adapting the parts to your design or adapting your design to accept the equipment.

instead of typical rack pinion, try building gokart type solid link steering. what are the dimensions of your vehicle?

Yes, it is Formula SAE BAJA.

Used stuff is not according to our suspension properties like caster, kingpin, camber, scrub radius, toe etc. As, there is lots of wheel travel like 220 mm thats why these properties matter a lot. We cannot compromise on that.

We have already achieved our required ackerman percentage on Lotus Shark with rack and pinion. So, for solid link, we have to start all over again.

I also worked a little on Eco-marathon, a team from my batch went last year. Eco doesn't need any suspension cause it hardly reaches 35 kph and runs on asphalt.

it all depends on your budget.

you can get long travel suspension complete setup for off road buggies from abroad, but obviously its costly.

if you are on a tight budget, then innovation (jugaar) is required

Why would you re-invent the wheel?

As, we haven't got any sponsor yet so yes we are tight on budget. Most international teams use fox air shocks but they will cost us 60k-70k which is a lot. I have found coil over shocks for 8k a pair.

Air-shocks have more travel and we can adjust them easily but they are not durable so we are going for coil-over shocks.
