Buying A UPS SUGESSTIONS NEEDED EXPERTS

Hi.
I use a Desi ups, 1 KVA battery and i am happy with it.
For the first week, yes it had problems, because the mechanic who fitted it didn't know i was going to use sensitive electrical items e.g PS3, laptop.

It burned my laptop charger twice, and the PS3 power supply, so that was a downside, you gotta risk it for the biscuit
Then i got it fitted with a capacitor, cost me 1,100-/, and since then, voltage has been stabilized. It gives a back up for 4 hours( 1 fan, 3 energy savers) and 1.75 hours( One 32" LED tv, Laptop, fan and 2 energy savers) which is acceptable by me.

Been 8 months since i got it installed, and i top-up the battery using water which drips from AC drain pipe, no worries so far.

Best option for you is to go for a branded one, but trust me, some desi ups's are awesome, just gotta search for the right one!

and u got the ups fitted with capacitor or laptop charger fitted with capacitor?

and you didnt mention what AH batteries you have (the number written on battery like 100, 120, 130, 160, 200 etc).

The ups is fitted with a capacitor to improve sign wave.,. The fans would give less noise that way but would still give some...

With homage and cyberpower... Fans are completely quite! You can't guess if its ups running or Wapda...

The stable voltage bit has no connection with the capacitor... Output voltage is adjustable through s screw on the charging kit... But many jerk technicians dont bother to adjust it... Hence it gives 270, 280 volts instead of 220-240

Brothers also recommend me a UPS as i am fed up of my DESI 24V 1200Watt UPS.

I am using 2 Volta 140amp batteries so please help me to choose one good ups of 24V from the list below:-

CyberPower
NS
Inverex
Mercury
Aurora

Please if anyone who is having a good experience with any of these UPS please let me know so i can get some relief after Installing that.

Desi UPS is a Pain in the ***.

Will recommend homage and cyberpower only... Have heard about reduced quality of fresh lot of homage ups... Hence consider cyberpower... I also tried it at my home, works like a charm!

Will suggest u not to sell ur old desi ups! Keep it as a back up device... God forbid if homage/ cyberpower gives away due to any manufacturing fault etc... U can get it claimed but it has to be removed and sent to their offices... They might take a few days to repair it and during that time, this old ups would come in handy!

PS selling it wont recover u anything!

Cyberpower gives very nice quality output: proper sinosidal wave form of the electricity meaning that fans wont make noise and low quality adapters / chargers wont malfunction.
but i know a 1kva cyberpower UPS that is not charging battery properly n the owner is having a miserable time with it.

^^ Usually battery problems when UPs isnt charging.. one of the cells are troubled.

Both are good, homage Chinese brand and cyber is American

PS Karachi assembled means spares readily available... Cyberpower might means waiting for shipment to arrive

1000 VA, 600 watts cyber power is enough for you in 8-10 hrs loadshedding for alternate hrs... But more than that would be troubling. Ur ups might shutdown...

That's why I was asking u to consider 24 volt ups. The reason is: with 12 volt ups u get backup from 12volts full charged battery till 9 volts... A 3 volt margin before the ups gives beep and shuttsdown... But with 2 battries you have: 24 volts till 18 volts, 6 volt margin before ups would die... This means double backup.

Just to add... Cyberpower is American, homage is Chinese.
Both are inverters, theres no transformer in them... They are just like mobile phone chargers.

Desi upses on other hand can be copper made or silver made transformer ones...

If money isn't issue then 24volt is more peace of mind... Can give very good backup, even with worst of loadshedding...

But if u have a generator at backup... Then 12 volt with 150 amp battery is sufficient.

+1 for that... it's the most sensible advice in all the replies. Many UPS nowadays have a button at back with which u can switch the charging amps between 10A and 20A. Go for any of those.

For 1-2 fans and a few energysavers, this ups will be sufficient.

Transformer based UPS are normally desi UPS. They are heavy and less efficient but can be repaired if there is some problem. Chopper based ones are more efficient and lightweight but cannot repaired (or its very difficult to repair them) Almost all good brands are chopper based. It is advisable to go for a good chopper based UPS like homage or NS or cyberpower etc... but do keep in mind the advice of @lse1

Mate if this the only reason for you to get a UPS than in the same cost get an automatic panel for yourself. What it does is that it automatically turns the generator on with in 10 seconds of power outage and turns the generator off and switch to normal Electric line within 2 minutes of power being restored. I am also going to get one for myself shortly. The cost of that is somewhere around 14K and installation is going to be somewhere around 3-5 K .

Bro I have already checked for that automatic panel but almost all the mechanics have not recommended me it for my generator coz its a very old one and kick start so they said that it'll be problematic with alteration....

Bro they dont have waranty bt when u will see there box and weight
U will automatically iudge dat itx far better than local osaka, ags or exide
I bought 150amp for 14000, 8 months ago from the road adjacent to pirwadai
( dont know the name of road bt its exactly adjacent to pirwadai ada, this road goes to raja bazaar)
In 8 months battery is working super awsom

No.. in this case u'd have to connect 2 battries, no other solution

2 battries can be connected in parallel to a 12 volt UPs however Iv heard that it wont charge both equally.. one might get charged before the other...

100 Volts x 2 battries will bdw cost LESS than one 180 or 200 amp battery, I have also got 2 x 85 amp AGS battries which i bought for 11,000Rs both and collectively they have got 170 Amps... Price of 170 Amps single battery these days is higher.. like 12Ks + these days. So u u'd save on battries a little bit...
