Buying Advice: Toyota Mark X 250 or Toyota Crown Royal 2001/3

Hello and AoA PWs!
I planning to buy a Mark X 250G or Toyota Crown 2001/2003 (2.0 or 2.5 Variants)
Lemme brief u about me scenario:
1. I'm currently driving a 1.6 Altis 2017 model that I purchased brand new in Jan 2017.
2. My current requirement is that I need an spare compact car for my family, (for which I dont have any budget , so I want to sell my Altis and buy 2 cars out of it.
3. The idea is to sell my Altis, buy a Mark X 2005/6 or Crown 2001/3 for myself, and also finance a 660 japanese car for my spouse (downpayment for that is to be made from the sales of my Altis).
4. Since I'm going to use the Mark X or Crown for my daily office commutes etc, I want advice from actual users: What is better, a Mark X 2005/2006 or a Crown 2001/2003 (based on maintenance, fuel average etc).
5. Please dont recommend other cars or other older generations of crown.

Your constructive and helpful inputs are requested guys, as I want to make a purchase before this year ends.

U mean body parts for both Mark X and Crown, or, are u talking specifically about Crown?

A clean markx will cost almost as much as your Altis..... You can buy abused cars for 2 mil or under.
Both the cars have a slow resale but a steady one, if the vehicle that you buy is clean and with maintenance history, it will sell without an issue.
Also a major thing that you are overlooking, your Altis has everything available at end of your finger tips, this will have everything available in scrapyards, and if you buy a cheap lemon, you will cry your heart out with it

A clean Mark X touches the 3 mil mark.

Why you would sell a trouble free car and get a 15 year old car which will give you mantainance bills in near future? That doesn't make sense to me. I would rather save for downpayment, and get a car after waiting for sometime. Newer is always better then an old car.

Look for a Mark X its newer, has better fuel economy and parts are available.
The market is flooded with custom auction cars which only look good but are abused and the have attractive prices.
