Buying an Old Prius (2010–2014) in 2025 — Worth it for Fuel Economy?

I’m considering buying an old Toyota Prius (2010–2014 model) in 2025 and wanted to ask for your honest advice:

Is it still worth it for fuel economy and overall reliability?

What kind of mileage can I expect in city and long route driving?

Are the batteries and other hybrid components still dependable after 10–15 years?

How about maintenance costs and availability of parts in Lahore?

Should I consider alternatives like Aqua, Fit Hybrid, or Corolla Hybrid instead?

Which variant of the Prius is best to buy overall — and which one is best specifically for fuel efficiency?

If any of you have experience with an older Prius, I’d really appreciate your thoughts and recommendations!

sir @mhafizasad1 govt has recently announced import of 5 year old vehicles. i'd recommend to please wait for end of 2025. There will be significant reduction in price of vehicles. used local PKDM models & JDM 5 year old may be available at same price.

a hybrid vehicle 2010 model is 15 years old. It will neither be fuel efficient neither it will be economical on maintenance. almost every mechanical & electrical item of the vehicle is at end of life. any bad choice will make you regret for long.

Buy it only if you want to spend lakhs upon lakhs on replacing faulty or failing parts like ABS unit and batteries.

In order to get 20km/L mileage, you will spend 5-6 lakh plus on its ongoing maintenance. And will never be able to recoup that cost .. will end up spending more than a car that gives even 8km/L mileage.

If it was a country with official Toyota presence and it kept getting official updates plus recalls and battery was replaced recently with a genuine Toyota one by Toyota officially … you could consider it IF bought at a cheap price.

Another issue with this model is that plenty of people have rolled back the odometer so you may not even know for sure what you are getting. If you want to experience a hybrid the corolla fielders are usually less abused.

We had a 2nd gen Prius when they started coming to Pakistan and ended up selling it on a loss because there was not enough technical know how from people on how to fix the ABS sensors and whatnot. These errors do come up somewhere between 5-8 years down the line so chances are that the car you're buying may have already had some kind of replacement already. It is a risky business nonetheless, but the priuses are solid cars. If you are looking for a reliable car you may look somewhere else though purely based on the age and the battery related issues that can cost a pretty penny.
