Buying first car and need advise which one should I go for?

Salam,
I'm 24 a software engineer looking to buy our family's first car. Initially, I was planning to buy a Mitsubishi Lancer budget was around 1.3 million but all my friends and relatives were against it saying "parts ni milne", and "maintenance bht mushkil h etc etc". Right now I'm thinking about increasing my budget up to 2 million and looking forward to buying a 2010 Honda City.
Primarily I'm looking for fuel average.
What do you guys suggest? And If you vouch for Honda City which variant should I go for?

Honda city is good choice if fuel economy is the concern.

You need to do little search and I believe you can buy Honda city with manual gear from 2006-2010 models depending on condition.

Its nice car for city drive and even for long routes also. And you will enjoy it a lot.

Suggestion 1: Before driving make sure its cooling system is all OK and thermostate valve is installed and working. Otherwise it may have over heat issues.

Suggestion 2: When buying used vehicle, always keep 1-2 lakh spare in hand to spend on it. Because apparently these vehicles may look good but after buying when we bring them in our daily drive routine, then we know that how many works need to be done like suspension, tires, cooling system, tuning, fluids change, etc.

2010 Honda City? 2.0M budget? That is never happening. You won't even find a clean corolla in this range.
Your best bet would be to buy a clean Honda City 2006-2008. In fact, forget what I said, buy anything that you think will last a good 5-6 years on routine maintenance. Peace of mind >>> Model/make/varient.

That being said, acha peace of mind dene wali gaari in your budget would be any Honda city 2006-2008, Honda Civic 2005-2006. Forget those xli's gli's. they're mostly abused aur neat ones don't fall in this budget.

Buy yourself a well kept wagon r or new alto, Whatever you find clean in 2mil! Sedans available in 2mil bracket are either too old or too abused. Plus being the first car do keep in mind regular and periodic maintenance cost. Wagon r and alto will be less of headache, cheaper to maintain and efficient on fuel. You will be spending more time at work and family and less with mechanics thus enjoying the car not cursing your decision of buying an old beaten up sedan. Maybe after an yr or so you can add some money sell the car and get a sedan(Wagon r and new alto are known for great resale). BOL.
P.S a clean and well kept Honda City 2010 Islamabad registered starts at 2.3 ~2.4mil minimum. Word of caution avoid any 1300cc car driven near 1.5 lac km.

Adding on, keep 1.7 mn for the vehicle and 0.3mn for additional repairs/maintenance. 15-20% of the buying price should be allocated for this. You never know when something goes problematic

True, I bought a Honda Civic a few months back that apparently was buy and drive but I still ended up spending 2.5 lacs on it.

Buy a Wagon R, but if you want a sedan go for a sedan. Honda City 2006-2008 or Civic 2004-2006 are in your budget, and Lancer is also not bad - instead of a abused Honda you can look for Lancer. Parts mill jatay hain bro, aik chakar Bilal Gunj ka lgao sb mill jata hai.

Purani gaari may maslay niklain gay jo apki ahista ahista smjh aayengay, but once you fix those and bring it to it’s optimal condition only doing reg maintenance should be enough.

Buy a Car that you love, jo nae psnd woh naa lo mileage or cheaper parts ka soch kr.

Get suzuki Wagon R or Alto as your first car. This will give you peace of mind as it is newer model , less maintenance.

If you are looking for old car, then get it from.someone near who owns it well.
