Buying my First Car

Asslam o Alikum Folks,
I am looking to buy my first car. My budget is 1.3 million & looking for an automatic car. I live in Lahore. AC & Fuel efficiency is my preference, i dont care about paint, colour etc All i care about are the mechanical things about car. I dont want to visit workshop every month. Just want hassle free car! I researched a lot & thinking to buy City or Mira:

Anybody have any suggestions, i will really appreciate it. It will be my first car so!

Wa Alaikum Salam.

First of all, 660 cc cars may be sincerely avoided. Go for at least 1000 cc car.

In your budget, and in hatchback, Mitsubishi Mirage seems a sane and wise option, provided you are able to grab one in good condition.

In Sedans, 4th gen. IDSI Honda City seems a good option, else if, you can also look for 1300-1500 cc used JDM Sedans.

I have owned Nissan Tiida Latio in the past. It was a 1500 cc, used JDM car, and a powerful Sedan. Good AC, power, etc. and I was able to grab one in excellent condition MA SHA ALLAH.

It was in a similar price bracket, and luckily, it didn't give any problems for the time I owned it.

It was a lucky chance and you can also look for similar makes and models, however, if you are not an expert, then used JDM Sedans can be avoided.

Will I be able to get 2009-10 model City if I increase my budget to 1.5 million. I can go upto 1.6 million given the condition that I really dont want to visit workshop every month. In my mind I have option of brand bew Local Alto as well just bcz I think new car is new. You wont have to worry that I will stop in middle to road.

Unfortunately cars have gone so much expensive that only very limited options are there.

Before buying any used JDM car, always have its auction sheet verified. If auction sheet, odometer reading, anything related to the car, etc. Is tempered, simply walk away from that car, however it appeals you.

Agar auction sheet, odometer reading, etc. Tempered hai, then aur bohat kuj b temper hua va ho ga.

Thats the point I am not an expert & pretty much naive when it comes to cars. Want to avoid hassle. My friend bought a city 11 model in 1.4 Million 6 months ago 99000 mileage. According to him car is running very good, so maybe I was thinking to get city as its a sedan & of course parts availibility and everything will not be an issue!

And before buying any car, have it thoroughly verified and checked, for any / all issues, especially its computer via OBD Scanner.

You can also avail any of Pakwheels cars inspection services, OLX, etc. if no expert is available with you.

If a lucky chance and jackpot opportunity is there, then YES, its of course possible, otherwise, chances are quite less, considering your budget.

You may get MT one, but AT seems very difficult.

And YES, you are absolutely right regarding brand new, PKDM 660 cc Alto car. Its fuel efficient, good for City driving, AC is just fine (not exceptional), etc. However, the moment 3-4 persons sit, there is luggage, you have to move on highway at high speed, or driving on steep slope, and then when its extremely hot, car, its tiny 660 cc engine, and AC, all fail.

That's why I don't like, prefer and recommend 660 cc cars.

Chances of failure of a brand new vehicle are quite less, but still, they are there, and PKDM, and especially Pak Suzuki cars, due to their questionable build quality, chances are more.

Still, people are buying and using them, and so can you.

If you are able to find a clean Honda City in your budget, then IMO, it would be an excellent option.

I saw some, they looked neat & clean. Rest, its my first car maybe thats why I am being so cautious. On Pakwheels there are many good looking city listed in my budget but mileages are very high.

Shhhhh.... Don't you dare speak against alto 660 cc. People will get offended here. They will tell you how powerful it is when you speak about climbing hills where even Corollas and other sedans are struggling. No names but people have made videos about this mini masterpiece which you can find in suzuki section.

YES. Agreed, and it happens if you are buying a car for the st time. Many concerns are there.

I think high mileage does not matter much, if car's overall condition (engine, body, suspension, transmission, etc.) are in great shape, and if high mileage car is in great shape, it means, it was always kept well maintained and driven with care.

YES. Agreed and I know about it, but then again, these are all personal choices and likes / dislikes, and I am not against it. Still, moderation must always be there and preferred, instead of extremities, like if someone likes it, then wo zameen aasmaan k qalabay mila dey, and if someone dislikes it, then none of the things is worse than it in this whole Universe (these both attitudes and behaviors are wrong IMO).

One should give an honest, just and unbiased opinion (irrespective anyone likes it or otherwise), and leave the ultimate choice to the potential buyer. He may be wise enough to choose, and decide accordingly.

what ever car you buy must go for 2 inspection services. one from Pakwheels and one from olx. always go with any of your friend father or any other person . never buy a car in hurry. always satisfy yourself from everything then proceed. if seller makes excuses leave that car. 90% car odo meters are tempered and jugaar in done in car which you will come to know after 200 300 km driving.
