Buying Surf 1996 1KZ: What to check?

I intend to buy a 1996 Toyota Surf SSRX, Diesel 3.0. Automatic.

What should be my check points? How to check engine smoke, transmission and other mechanical parts?

I was also thinking about hiring services of Pakwheels CarSure for inspection of the vehicle.

Best method is take someone with you who know 4x4.. avg mechanic don't understand 4x4s. Person who has not owned a 4x4 cant judge a 4x4 him self.

Few general tips are buy original vehicle no engine swaps no body swaps and the amnesty scheme surfs or those registered in 2006-8 are worth buying anything else are too old and over used behicles

@ qwertypoiu thanks for the response. As per photographs the vehicle seems in immaculate condition and is ex embassy owned - sold/reg in May 2017 to local person. I will, however, have it professionally checked.

2017 registered means 200k transfer fee and 25k token rate
