@Huzaifaa, Bro now a days market is very down, Qualified persons are sitting at home to get jobs, there was a time when people used to "book" student even before result and salary packages were also very high, now a days after recent economic debacle job market is down, I know few CAs who are waiting for Job ! ACCA have (had) market in middle east.

on positive note, starting pay for ACCA qualified with 3years of practical training, is around 25 - 35K, may vary, where as Qualified CA (4 yrs of article ship completed) with get at least 55K + Alto, this is not fixed I am telling you the norms.

I have always stressed that one should not chose a field bcoz someone else is doing great in that field !

I'm really surprised to see the quality of majority of comments posted here. Some guys are saying ACCA is better than CA, excuse me? They are living in a world of misinformation. Reality check is that CA gets jobs everywhere in Pak or abroad..ACCA can't get jobs in todays market especially in Pak. Ok thats a bit excessive and not true in all cases. But still how can you compare a CA, who has completed all modules with 4 years of extensive rigorous training in the form of articleship, and an ACCA, who lands into doing it after he realize that he can;t do ACCA? It's like comparing a Bcom with an MBA. People do ACCA, so that later on after doing some other courses, they can get a CA degree - an easier way.

If you're a CA from a good firm (big 4 - PWC, E&Y, Deloitte and Fort Rhodes) then you can easily get a very good high pay job in Gulf or UK. As I've said in an another thread, CAs are needed in every firm, the demand is unlimited and can never end.

CA/ACCA/ACMA/MBA(Banking&Finance)... they all have their own charm and value if one have professional experience of plus 3 years in Accounts or Finance field...

if you are in tax then yes both are damn dry

and if you are in audit adn you get good (internatinal clients) based on the relationship with partner nothing is more fun in life the a CA firm.

I would STRONGLY recommend going for 'The Premier' and the 'most highly paid finance profession' of our country vis a vis, Chartered Accountancy.

As a CA you'll start earning twice as much as you would as an ACCA.

I know several people who did graduation in Engineering and then shifted to Finance. One of my close friends (another CA) dropped his MBBS and moved to this profession. :o

Please note that a CA is much more than an accountant. Accountancy is a small part of a CA's scope of work. A CA's job encompasses the whole financial spectrum of the organization.

A combination of CA + Engineering background is a very effective one and YES, I would strongly recommend you to go for Chartered Accountancy.

If still in doubt about the source of advice...... google my name for some comfort

well since you are an engineer then you dont have basics of accounts and let me clear it for you,they directly teach you the advance topics in CA,no basic stuff,and you have max 5months classes to learn it for a particular exam session,you'll forget your engineering doing CA LOL

CA education begins from the basics and if you've learn't something properly (without rattafication), you never forget it in your life.
