"C.A" or "ACCA"?

My advice to anyone who wishes to know about the profession of Chartered Accountancy or ACCA or CIMA or ICMA or PIPFA is "NOT TO ASK FROM UNQUALIFIED PEOPLE".

Please,...... this is your career we're talking about.

Take out some time and:

1) visit the offices of these institutions, like ICAP, like ACCA, like ICMA, etc.

2) try to meet people who have passed their exams and are now working in the industry. They are in the best position to give you best advice.

Please do not seek advice from people who are neither qualified nor have any idea about these qualifications.

i was just wondering that after CA and Eng. would this mixture of degree has a combined effect in any firm or i will have to rely on only one......

coming from engineering background, CA will cost you a minimum of 5years if you're a genius. CA is not really difficult, thats what i learnt after looking at the course and asking a few friends doing CA. The problem is that students get an illusion that they have ALOT of time to study later so they take it easy, then they lag behind and fail, fail, fail.....and get stuck.

CA is only time consuming, so rocket science level intelligence is not really necessary(for you, difficulty level should be low/medium)...but u probably have to work/study like a machine. Thats what I have heard and most people working as CAs seem to agree to that.

Manufacturing organizations such a Toyota, Honda, Suzuki, etc would SIMPLY LOVE hiring a Finance professional who has 'some' engineering background (be it academic). They will value such a FInance Professional higher as compared to a person who has simply done CA.

I agree with what has been said above. Passing CA needs CONSISTENT effort. I am not a genius. I was an average student throughout my schooling. Passing exams just need continuous effort and yes, I agree, for someone coming from Engineering background, the difficulty level should be medium-level.

It is because an engineer during university, he learns how to build on low budget. So he has the potential to lower manufacturing costs if hired as a finance/accounting manager etc in manufacturing firm.

i later shifted to CAT/ACCA and after studying accounts of CA,financial accounting was halwa in CAT even f7 in ACCA is nothing as compared to module B's accounting

i passed mod A but just cox of law in mod B,whole mod B failed,that was a stupid rule which they have removed now and thats why i left CA

i wonder he's a CA and he got enough time that he spent all day on pakwheels trying to prove his point

CA make cash flow statement. these days cash doesnt flow, no profit either. So CA is free all the time.:P:P

Actually CA employed in company other than accounting firms and banks etc have lot of free time because he only have to keep check on some accounts/books once in a while, not managing 10,000 different things simultaneously.

now you have to get your facts straight

CA working in a firm deployed on a single client with less work load will not be busy as opposed to sitting in his own firm cabin. but in firm hell yeah he will always be chasing and getting out of storm's

if u become company secretary or chief accountant etc, job is easy. as compared to working in a bank or accounting firms etc.

As a matter of fact, I am a CA. I didn't shift from CA even when I found it difficult to pass exams. Kept working hard consistently. In the end, all hurdles were passed with patience and perseverance.

I agree ACCA is easier to pass than CA, but then you know a fresh ACCA's worth compared to the worth of a fresh CA in the jobs market. Last I checked, a fresh CA started at least a DOUBLE the salary which was offered to a fresh ACCA.

The choice is quite easy actually.

It's not just that, there is also another benefit ...... A Finance Professional with an engineering background will find it easier to communicate with management personnel in the organization who are from non-finance. He will easily decipher the technical (engineering) jargon being discussed. In case of expansion projects / engineering projects also, he will be able to add more value.

Go for BBA+MBA from reputable university like LUMS , IBA , SZABIST , IQRA

N there is no comparison of CA n acca
My plan is acca then icaew after that its just 2 papers of CA n all 3 certifications
