Calling all H22a experts!

What ECU are you running? Is it OBD1 or OBD2? I have limited knowledge of Toyota ECUs and im not sure if you can program OBD 2 ecu's. If you are running a custom ecu then you have a great chance of tunning the problem out.

Bro, where did you get it retuned from? I am having the exact same problems as you with my 2JZ-GE VVTi. Please help out.

You are so right about the compression bit. Every online I have visited tells me to use better fuel and they are all right. It makes sense if you have to save your engine. I have started using 100% HOBC again and my engine is running as smooth as ever. One more thing.....never use Admore petrol.....i have had the worst knocking ever with their fuel even with a mixture.

distro as in distributor i think....btw H22 compression r r lil high 10.6 so try mixing 60:40.....also check ur distri if they r in advance or not

Hmmm your idea sounds plausable. i Know that for a chipped ecu the oxygen sensor has to be disabled and a few other sensors are also disabled to eliminate CEL. But on the other hand, older Honda knock sensors are not renowned for their performance. I know for certain that the timing on my car had been zeroed before the tuneup. I am certain that its a fuel factor because change of fuel make a huge difference that is clearly visible in daily driving.

Do you have any suggestions? Is there anyone here running an H22a on premium petrol?

I'm pretty sure its the stock 2jz-ge ECU. So I'm guessing its OBDII. Thinking of visiting HPR in Islamabad, as that's where I live now. However, it would be great if you could give me the contact details of your tuner also.

Regarding HOBC, I'm not sure if the H22 is as picky as my 2JZ-GE, but I have noticed that if I don't run at least a 70/30 (HOBC/Regular) mixture, my engine runs like a combustion engine out of a train. Much better on HOBC.

Hmmm dont have much experience with HPR. I had mine done from Yasir at Maxtorque. Unfortunately he is out of the country for the time being. I had to catch him during one of his visits to Pakistan. Had to wait 3 months for him :o cuz he had tuned my car before as well.

This is because of bad quality fuel in our country. No resolution to this.

two of my friends have H22a in 97 n 99 civics n one F20b 2001 civic....all of them r running on HOBC fuel....if ur timing is zeroed then try doin advance for super petrol maybe it ll stop knocking

B18c has an even higher compression (11.1:1) so premium fuel is highly not recommended as it might damage the engine. Sometimes there is just no other option but premium cuz HOBC is not easily available.

Visited HPR today, they don't have their own electrician. They send you to Nazir, who is in G8. Met with one of his guys, he's ready to do a run over on Monday. Lets see, I will visit MaxTorque soon also, before Monday, so I can make a decision on who to give my car to for messing about with.

To the thread owner, sorry for hijacking your thread, but similar issues with me too. I wish you best of luck with the H22.

Lolz dont worry about it. Im the thread owner as well BTW Yasir is not here he is in Dubai and he is the one who tunes the car messing about with the ECU. His mechanic can check your car for other mechanical faults or timing etc but real tunning is a bit more complex.
Why is HPR sending you to an electrician??? Whats an electrician got to do with tunning??

Oh, forgot to add that I'm going to an electrician because I'm getting a fault code and the check engine light. Need the electrician to diagnose the code, and fix the issue. The code is a real pain, as it isn't specific, and points to either the fuel system, the ignition system, the injectors, the valve timing and a couple of other things! Stupid diagnostics code number 59.

However, I have just read that my engine requires premium fuel (min 91 RON octane). This last gas tank I filled was regular fuel as the pump ran out of HOBC. So will fill it up with HOBC and see if it makes a difference to my performance loss issues and the fault code.

When is Yasir due back from Dubai? Thanks.

^let me tell you one thing, you will not go wrong with Sattar @ nazir electronics. that guy knows the complete a-z of car wiring, you may have seen all the mercedes and beamers alongside many other high profile exotics there, if you didnt go on a bad day. One guy i'd even hand a lambo over to is Sattar or Shah jee @ HPR, no advertising being done here, im just a satisfied customer speaking the truth.
