Can a car stay in Pakistan more than 30 days?

I am considering buying an old but reliable car and driving from Europe to Pakistan via the Iran-Pakistan, Taftan border crossing. To confirm this would be on a legitimate Carnet de Passages, which I understand gives the vehicle 30 days temporary stay in Pakistan?

My question is, if circumstances were to change and I was to stay in Pakistan for a long period, is there a way the car can be registered in Pakistan either indefinitely or for a longer temporary period?

I appreciate the vehicle will be forbidden to be sold, we wouldn't want to sell it anyway. I just want to inquire as to the procedure of how to adhere legally and register the car, given it will definitely be a model more than 3 years old (likely 10-15 years old)?

I appreciate I'll have liaise with the granting carnet company separately, just keen to understand specifically the registration/paying duty process in Pakistan. Is it possible to register the car? And if so what is the cost or a calculation formula please?

the car has to be under your ownership for over an year at the time of arrival in Pakistan under CARNET - The Carnet permit is extendable under approval from the customs in Pakistan. You may be able to pay duty & taxes in order to legally register it. however the valuation of the car will be based on 3 year old model of same category.

Jzk capsat for giving me clarity on this. So essentially we'd be limited to the validity of the 1 year carnet, or if lucky 2 years if an extension was granted. Thanks, this enables me to work on identifying suitable shipping agents to ship the car back to Europe.

Can anyone recommend any shipping agents in PK?

the carnet holder need to complete the shipping documents for re-export by any means other then road. Stay in Pakistan till such time car is boxed & loaded over container ship or the airline.. do not - do not trust the handling agent in Pakistan till such time the destination confirm physically fit arrival of vehicle.

locally re-export vehicles cars are ripped off valuables at port & cargo holds, only skeleton reaches destination leaving owner in HUGE paper work with insurance.
