Can i 'convert' my UK drivers license?

Hi mates,
I would be highly grateful if someone can please guide me how to get a Pakistani driver's license. Do i need to 'sit' on a learner's license for six months and then appear in a practical driving test or my UK driver's license can cut the procedure short somehow, as it happens in most of the countries.

well yes you can, but you'll have to contact the SSP directly and it can be done without any "sifaarish"

Drive on int license ( u can do that for a yr) and during that time get urself a license from PAK. I think to concert ur UK license u'll have to surrender it, would u be willing to do that?

Brother you have UK licence. Dont worry Pakistan car exam is very very easy. Aap ke liye bohut asan hoga. And if you fail you can always 'pay your way'
And wait time is not 6 months. The learner license is valid for 6 months. You have to wait 30 days after you get your learner license to appear for exam.
If you want to convert your UK license it will be a time consuming and complicated process.

You can convert the UK licence into Pakistani one......

My friend got it done few months back ..... you have to go to Traffic police office ...at the end of Mall road (if you are in Lahore)... and it shoudl be done within a day or two...

Its been 2.5 years and I still havent converted my licence or got the Pak one...However, if you are stopped by police and you show your UK driving licence, they wont say anything to you...its valid throughout the world...and there isnt any way that a traffic cop will know if its been a year or more you are using it in Pakistan...

In case you are "fined" (Chalan) by the traffic police and they want to keep your driving licence....DONT GIVE THEM YOUR LICENCE.........insist on giving your ID card for it and NOT THE LICENCE....just in case, its a bad day and they lose your licence...although they insist we never lose any documents...

o and if you have NICOP ... as it happened to me once...the police man said...its not ID card....explain to him that it is a valid ID card...banks open account on it...and Govt. offices consider it as valid as ID card...

so in short....if you are stuck with the conversion process..message me and i will give you my friend's number....he will be happy to guide you...

and remember!!! whatever traffic rules you learnt, whatever good habits you have developed...especially being courteous and nice to people on road while driving.....THROWN THEM OUT OF WINDOW while driving here....you will get frustrated and angry at how dumb and rude some(being polite here:)) of the drivers can be on road ...

and most important...if you have an accident...its your fault .... and you have to pay for your car repairs...so dont bother with the thought that its other guy's fault and he will pay for your repairs...you will be lucky if you hear the word "Sorry" from him :)...so the best way to drive is like that "Dodging car" game at the festivls...you have to save your and other person's @ss...even though you would soooooooooo want to hit his car at times

[I]IF you have Pakistani ID card ( CNIC or a NICOP ) you need to visit Licence office and produce copy of your UK licence, do some form filling and 'ask SHORT-CUT' , with an smile you will be briefed and licence will be ready next day. -

if you do not have Pakistani ID papers - the short-cut will be through some step, by producing copy of passport copy of licence, a certificate of residential address stamped by police station and again some money - it will be ready.

getting a Pakistani license is so easy - its funny, go to a DL office and fill out their form, a couple of pictures and a test that you have to do within a driveway and drive up a ramp. thats its

it was made for people with IQs in the lower 50s.

canada is also a commonwelth country but rules are different so next time do get your facts straight before posting.
