Can I Install 235/50/R16 in my Civic 1.5 Turbo 2016

Hello everyone, I have bought New 2016 Honda Civic 1.5 Turbo, 215/55/R16 is installed by stock, Can I install 235/50/R16 tires in my civic? Will these tires affect my car performance or its just fine???

the diameter hardly changes in this change.
you will get a wider tyre, how ever putting on the same 7" shoulder rim won't make that big difference.

you can go for it. it will give you a better road grip but, you will feel slight slide on corners because of the mismatch RIM shoulder and tyre width.

What he is basically trying to say is that 235 tires are better suited to 7.5" or 8" wide rims. So you could either go for 16x7.5" or 16x8" wheels with 235/50R16 tires, or alternatively you could go for 17x7.5" or 17x8" wheels with 235/45R17 tires.

235/50R16 could be too wide for the stock 16x7" wheels hence may not produce the desired result you are looking for.

its not about 17"

its more about the rim shoulder. stock rims that are meant for 215 tyres are 7"
while with 235, you need atleast 7.5" shoulder. 8" would be a plus.

Go for 225-55r16 it wont give u any kindof problem.

Yup, but IMO considering the alloy rims generally available in the market, there is more likelihood of finding a 17x7.5" than a 16x7.5".

I'm running aftermarket 17x7.5" in my CL9 with 215/45R17. The 215/45R17 is the stock tire size for a Type S CL9 but the stock rim is 17x7". Now, purely on visual inspection, ideally I should have 225/45R17 with my 17x7.5" rims. Going by that definition, the poster should ideally go for 8" wide rims if he wants to run 235 tires - and again, there is more likelihood of finding a 17x8" rim in the market than a 16x8".
