Installed various launchers and third-party apps are displaying but the IPTV app doesn't work which defeats the purpose of having SmartTV in the first place.

I tried ATV, shafa, nova and they were all crashing if you try to launch iPTV app. It finally worked after a few attempts with shafa launcher BUT if you restart your STB it stops working. The iptv app crashes and shows a black screen.

Gentlemen i present you with a solution for the recent update of the STB i.e. 4.4
All you need to dowload is TVLauncher apk and install it via usb...open it as soon it is installed add all the apps available into favourites especially ptcl launcher now you can play all your apps from this launcher...once you press APP button on remote set TVLauncher as default.
Sometimes you get black screen for IPTV app for workaround open ptcl launcher from within the TVLauncher and once it is opened ptcl launcher it also works through TVLauncher.
I have only tested with smart youtubetv hopefully it will also work with kodi and terriniem tv...

I installed TvLauncher 3.1.1 (beta). The stable version has an issue with some of the menus not working on this box.

Thank you for your suggestion. One small TIP, add the 'PTCL Launcher' as the first favorite in the launcher so its easier to get into smart tv.

Today PTCL pushed an update that has an option of "other apps" within their launcher. So bye bye TV launcher. Now everything is back to how it is supposed to be. Well done PTCL!!

Spoke too soon.. As soon as I went to update my smart YouTube app.. It gave me an error saying "sorry this terminal has been closed temporarily install third party applications directly, thank you!"

Maybe ptcl is going to launch some sort of an app store of their own..

The software of Smart TV has been upgraded and now 3rd party can be installed and run without any issue.

I use Terrarium TV regularly for live streaming.

Have you tried it after latest firmware update? It wouldnt let you install apk even with the SD card method.

After the new firmware upgrade, no one is able to install 3rd party apps any longer or update the existing ones. PTCL locked the terminal and on the other hand introduced MORE APPs TAB in the UI.

As always PTCL CREW sets another example of stupidity at its best. If you had to lock the terminal why the DUCK you have More Apps tab?

I just wish some guru out there comes up with a solution. I've tried many experiments but I have not been able to break the shit.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

I just got smart tv installed and facing this issue where I am not able to install any apk file. I think following might work as suggested by comments on following youtube video. I will try it out over the weekend.

Reset the device. I assume this will cause the cause the device to be at the factory setting i.e. latest updates removed. Also make sure the device is not connected to wired/wireless network so after rebooting it doesn't automatically upgrade. (Note down the middleware/ppoe password etc. before hand)
Install any 3rd party apps.
Configure the device by updating middleware/ppoe password etc.and wired/wireless information.
Reboot the device and I believe it will pull the latest updates again.

After the upgrade you should be able to access the new installed app in the "More Apps" section i guess. Hope this helps.

It worked out. Reset the stb and then installed the apks. The apps are availble under "More apps" section. But as soon as you configure the middleware username/password, it fetches the new configuration and afterwards you are not able to install the apps again. Please also note that resetting will remove all the previously installed apks so you will need to reinstall them again.

Facing one issue if anyone can help. Installed the youtube for android tv apk version 1.3.11 version. The search functionality is not working properly as when I search for anything it only shows 1 relevant video instead of list of videos as we normally see. Doesn't anyone else has this problem. Is there a fix?
