I think that it's more like a skid which the driver controlled by punching the throttle with opposite lock. A FWD vehicle will always straighten out when you floor the gas. The front tyres pull the car in the direction of the front wheels. So getting out of a slide is much easier with a FWD car.

for drifting u need to pull hand break atleast for seconds or so..once car is in motion.it will continue drifting..but atleast for some time..hand break is required i guess..
thts case of fwd cars.
plus it also depends on engine power...
more engine power cn drift car more distance

speed maters also..the more speed ur goin with,more drift ull get but still u need hand break to get it into drift mode...
so i guess hand break is must

but highspeed inertia drifiting can be done...even on a mehran.

@yasir_01.....the type of drifting you mentioned is called power sliding....drifting is not limited to drifting on power....you can drift cars on inertia as well just as people in Saudi Arabia do....that qualifies as drifting as well.....

First of all i m adding my useless reply here.According to my info The RWD cars can be drift easily and drifting also dont affect on their axles too.But its useless to drift a FWD car.Just dont ruin your money like this and just look,there are so many people around you.Drifting thrills but sometimes very bad things happen.
So Stop overspeeding,high speed lane changes,and drifting.
