Canon 5d Mark III with 24-70 f2.8 Mark II addition to my collection of cameras

Yes the 5d III is not a sports camera due to its lower FPS but its focus system has been derived from the 1Dx so there is no doubt that it can be used for sports.
You have mistaken between the D3 and the D3s ... the D3s is in a different league altogether but like u said different situations need different cameras and for me the D3s is the low ISO king. 25,000 iOS low light wedding reception no problem at all. And D800 for portraits OMG the details it's captures and the ability to retain shadows is amazing!
But in my daily use, I use my 5D mark III as it feels the best in my hands

btw bro are u in UK? I have a few lens for canon which u might be interested in , lets me know if u finding good lens

You might be right for low light capture of D800 but the noise ratio is so high that I'll still prefer the Mark III over it.

btw, although the cannon 24-70 is a very sharp and accurate lens but I'd have prefered Tamron...

yes the tamron is a good lens for
1) the price
2) the only 2.8 with VC (image stab.)

apart from that the corner to corner sharpness is not comparable to the canon 24-70

no sir, the noise is very much comparable to any modern camera if u view it at same MP. if u try to downscale the pic size of D800 to 20mp, the noise and details gets even better. i had a thread where i compared my d800 and 5d mark III and D3s.... maybe u might want to find that thread...

You've first hand experience, so you can tell the difference. My conclusion is mostly based on observations while going around with a few guys who are globe trotter professional photographers and do produce videos too.

About the Tamron, you are right, except that it depends on what preferences you are shooting the image at. If I'm into producing videos, I'll definitely go for the VC or maybe keep both

Tamron is a sharp lens i have used a canon 24-70 mark 1 first the mark II is a new breed of lens much better in communication with the camera and wonderful bokeh.. for some reason i have always found the third party lenses to be a problem but Tamron 24-70 is no doubt a fantastic lens in its price i had to pay double the price of tamron 24-70 f2.8 for the canon's version

the 24-70 MK I had many isues with manufacturing with different lens giving different results. i have had several copies of the MK I and they all look different. For some, The tamron is a better choice for those who do handheld low light or video.
the video made from a Non IS lens is Horrid.

i use the 24-105 F4 IS when i need to go 1/50-60 or to make videos , so i think i will be going for the tamron 24-70 VC myself
