Car AC not working when the car is stopped

I have a Toyota Corolla GLI 2015. My car AC stops working when it is stopped, but starts working when it moves. The low side pressure is somewhere 50. The condenser fan and compressor are both working when the car is at a stop.

I showed it to the mechanic and he said that the compressor has to be changed. He offered me Toyota Life compressor and all installation in Rs. 16000. I was wondering why do they not check for expansion valve failure or the tube filter? Also, no mechanic checks for the condenser clogging. Can anybody guide how and where should I get my car AC checked and guide me what possible cause can be?

I went to Punjab car ac too and they said that the whole car AC system will be changed and will cost me somewhere Rs. 45,000.

Because these cars have known faults of AC to stop working at low rpm or car at idle. 16000 are enough you can bargain for it but 45 thousands means you have to change everything which is expensive

Thanks for the message. Do you think going to Toyota dealer service will help? I was wondering if all this can be caused by something other than a faulty compressor or how to be sure. I have a feeling that no matter what the problem is, the mechanics have the tenancy of changing the compressor. If I have to change the compressor at all, does Toyota life compressor is good or duet compressor that other vendors are offering?

The AC worked fine for 4 years. I heard 2018 and onward models have this known issue.

only go with the shop that gives you written warranty of their work for at least 6 months. I have replaced my car's AC compressor 4 times. All of them went dead in 1-2 months. Unless actual cause of failure is diagnosed - problems will recur

Thanks for the message. None of the mechanics I contacted gave any guarantees. All they give is loose one week to one month guarantee for non genuine compressor. For genuine denso compressor, they say that the moment the car is out of the workshop, they are not responsible for anything.

Does actual dealerships provide such warranties? If YES than go to them else don’t ask such absurd warranties. Reminds me of a guy who brought GLi 1.6 2013 asking me to change transmission oil along with warranty that gear won’t get damaged. Asked him if dealership is providing one he said NO. Than why should I? If the manufacturer isn’t providing warranty than why should a road side mechanic provide one?

Asking for warranty is absurd? What a lame argument. Owner spends 20-30k on repair work and warranty is just check warranty. I've replaced 4 compressors in last 2 years just because road side mechanics are not able to diagnose the real issue.

I just got my car back from workshop. Went for a workshop who was willing to give 6 months warranty. Spent 30k on it. Evaporator Coil was blocked internally that was causing replaced compressors to malfunction after 1-2 months of usage. It was a big job to take out cooling coil. Full dashboard was opened for it.
