Car accident recovery advice

I want to know your viewpoints regarding recovery of money for car repairs in case it was hit by someone else.

My brother's car Suzuki Cultus 2018 model was hit by a neibhour while reversing. My bro had parked the car in front of his house to pick up his kid for school.

When he went back, he found that the car was smashed in front. The guard told him that neighbor had hit his car. The repair cost of the car that included change of both headlights, new bumper, and paint etc was about Rs. 40k. The car was insured so he had to pay Rs. 20k for the repairs.

My bro asked the neighbor to compensate for the cost since it was the their fault. They acknowledged that it was their fault but the brother of the lady who hit my bros var said they won't give a single penny for it. After a lot of complain, they finally agreed to pay only Rs. 5000.

I told my bro that he should have contacted the police or file a lawsuit to which he told me that it would have costed him more. He did nothing as he said there is no law on Karachi.

My question is how would you guys have reacted to this situation? Should I call the traffic police, rangers or black wardi walay in such a situation?

Personally, I would have rammed that r$@$ car if they didn't pay up. I believe in an eye for an eye justice.

Also, I want to ask PWs residing abroad, what is the laws when someone hits you. Do they pay the total cost of repairs, a fine, etc.?

Did your brother park infront of his house or the neighbors house? Even if he parked infront of the neighbors house, it doesn't mean they can smash the car and do whatever they want. In this country, it's better to stay away from court kacheri type stuff, sirf waqt and paiso ka zaya. We live in a country where court open at 12:00 night for the rich and powerful but not for other murder/rape/kidnapping cases. Police of any sort won't do anything unless one scratches their back and they'll scratch back (you know what I mean). Ghairat aur izzat agar neighbors me hoi tho they'll pay upfront, agar na karein tho samaj jaiyn ke beghairat hi hein.

I am sorry. If the car was parked in front of the neighbor's gate the car should have been smashed from all sides. Illiterate people in the land of the pure have absolutely zero civic sense. I live near a mosque and people blocked our gate regularly. And no, most of them were not the crude ones but the so called educated ones. Then I took matters in my own hands...

If you file an FIR, both the cars will be impounded by the police. You'll have to hire a lawyer to solve it in courts.
It's better to forgive the other person because it was an accident or smash their car to equal damage if that person is being rude.

in short You or your brother can do nothing. the way you have mentioned the brother of the mai reacted and said, he must be well connected and doesn't give a sh!t about what you will or will not do. as suggested by a "man of culture" @crema above, Migrate to a country where humans live, and do that at once.

the only guy who matter is the one who is in LC and there is a VIGO with armed guards on road. you, me or your brother are nobody.

is your brother an educated person? where was the civic sense so called 'parha likha' what right he exercised to to block an entrance ? correctly punished by the household.

its written that he parked the car in front of his house, I think OP doesn't mean that his brother parked in front of his neighbor's house. or am I incorrect?

No, my brother did not park his car in front of the nighbors gate.

He had parked his car in front of his house (actually his relatives house where his kid stayed overnight) on the sidewalk of the neighbors corner house for a moment to get his kid for school.

His car was not blocking the road. The neighbors car was in front of his car. But there was a space enough to easily get the car out without hitting my bro's car.

When he came back from inside the house, the car was smashed by a lady. The lady had fled and he was told about this by the street guard.

When my bro tried to get compensation for 20k he paid in repairs, the lady's brother at first told him they won't pay. He said accidents happen and he should deal with it. The lady's bro later agreed to pay only 5k.

My bro said he backed out when the lady's relatives (sister, Bhabi ,etc) came out of the house and started a commotion yelling on the road that my brother was harassing them.

It seems we are living in Gotham city. There is no law here, or it is only for people with connections. This is not Islamic Republic of Pakistan. But Gotham Republic of Lawlesness.

You are right. He may belong to a party with connections.
