in Our beloved Pakistan Car Business is under control of thugs and black money investors, they chew & spit 3 million 5 times a day, you may end up crying.

@capsat can you tell how the mafia will affect such a business? I understand that maybe car business is unsafe as an only business but how will the mafia and thugs involved in this business affect the profits?
If you have any incidents that you can share for everyone's knowledge.

If you’re already into car’s selling /purchasing and investing etc then I may assume that you know cars profit is decided the moment you purchase the car

For example you buy a corolla whose market worth is 15 lacs and you get that car for 14 , you now have the margin /profit of 1 lac .

It doesn’t matter if you buy a single car in 3 million or 3 cars of 1 million each as you mentioned that you are already into investing and selling cars

You’re already into car’s selling /purchasing and investing etc then you know profitability is based on buying price. The moment you eye a vehicle as investment and start bargaining you know fairly well how much you will be making later on.

in order to understand scamming and criminal approach go around car market, keep a target price for a specific variant make model of a vehicle. search inspect and figure out why over 30% variation in price.

90% of vehicles with dealers are over open letter. That means owner is no where visible to sell, that's 1st wrong.

2nd wrong is regn paper details are not available to buyer for inspection and obtaining status before advance payment. as in file status with excise.

3rd wrong 100% payment is required before vehicle transfer, which is wrong business practice. 20% payment shall take place when transfer documentation & govt receipts for payment are issued in name of buyer.

over this forum there are plenty of cases, the buyer is in trouble because transfer is denied by govt excise dept based on multiple reasons.

Thanks for putting a light on these issues. Yes I do invest in cars but I keep them for a while before selling so my investments are more long term and based on that criteria. Also it cannot be considered a regular business so knowing about market practices can only guide pakwheelers and me alike . I think the biggest different in my practice and of a dedicated car business is that i am in no hurry to sell and wait for the right price.

slow & steady wins the race, stick to that policy. profitability is based on 2 ponts, 1. buying at best lowest price, 2. Selling with honesty (complete paper work, no ambiguity about vehicle engine & shell condition)

Thanks for the encouragement brother. I am also thinking of moving to the real estate business as a landlord. My father already is a landlord and i want to start as well. In Pakistan the only way to encounter uncertainty is to invest regularly and in revenue generating assets.

For God's sake don't make business out of basic necessities of life. Find some decent business to invest your hard earned money, which actually contributes to rather leeches money from the economy.

The used car and house prices have been already inflated by these idiot lanati house car investors.

I believe there should be the rule of two cars and two house limit for everyone so that majority of people can afford these basic necessities of life and not just the filthy rich. Only the geniune owners with no ulterior profit making motive should be allowed to buy and sell these assets that are a necessity of life.

Sir, very respectfully. I started with a 88 model mehran and have saved up. Also, every wise person buys their necessities with resale in mind. Long term investments are the only way to sustain the value of money. Our currency is too small to support individuals on its own. Hoarding is a wrongful practice, As you also said more than 2 cars without a reason. business is a mindset and there are legal and compassionate ways to do it.
p.s. I do not support hoarding but do believe in sensible purchases based on long term thinking. That's the definition of investing.

I also buy only for long term investment. I was talking about dealers that make short term gains by buying lots of cars (hoarding) to create a scarcity and then resell them at high profit.

In the late 90s during Musharraf era, I noticed a trend and read an article of real estate dealers buying lands in bulk. A decade later house prices skyrocketed. And I want to emphasize that this was definitely not due to supply demand issue as some naively believe.

I know many areas in Karachi owned by big real estate agencies businessmen one two decades ago that are now selling them at huge prices. Karachi at least is huge with many near empty societies - Gulshan e Maymar, Garden City, Bahria Town, Gulistan e Jauhar, Naya Nazimabad etc). There are plenty of lands but most are owned by agencies that create artificial scarcity.

The same trend Ive noticed recently as these lanati thugs are doing with cars.

I recently was in the market for a used car and most of them were on open letter owned by these dealers who were asking a lot for badly maintained but shiny cars. Thank Allah I was able to locate a genuine buyer who sold a good car at a reasonable price.

House car business may be legal. But earning profit by creating scarcity and inflating prices due to hoarding is immoral, unethical, and satanic. Hoarding goods is also prohibited in Quran and this business is dirty and dishonerable.

Personally, I will never buy from and sell to any dealer and prefer genuine buyers and sellers and making sure they are not dealers by going as far as through a backgorund check.

I Understand and agree brother. Hoarding is a crime. And yes bulk buying is a curse we are plagued with in this country. Major political people have declared buying huge chunks of lands for peanuts.
