Dear PakWheelers,

I am reading different posts and suggestions people are making there for few days. Its a good place to learn new thing whether you are a beginner or an expert. See a lot of good advisors here So I decided to put my query to you so that I can get some good advise. So here is my question.
I am a beginner I have just learned how to drive a car and now I am planning to own a car for further practice. I have not a big budget in hand it is 2 to 3 lacs. so please tell me what would be the better car choice for me.?

Ok so uptil now I found that 2 to 3 lacs is not a good budget for buying a reasonable car. How much minimum budget should I have to buy a reasonable car. suggestions please.

with your quoted budget i doubt any auto will do, so that leaves manual. If you can drive a manual get a decent FX, that is a small car easy to maneuver and easy to fix and friendly on budget. It will last you a good year with minimum depreciation and in that time your confidence will also grow.

As it is a cheap car with cheap maintenance it will not hurt you if you damage the car (new driver usually do damage the clutch plates and brake pads. Plus accidental trips to pot holes or light poles). After one year when you are through working on a corpse you can always practice on a patient (live).

Comment is for limited budget.

Go for Mehran. It will be very difficult to find an FX in good condition. Most of the FX are in black color and are used as Taxi. Having such a car for a lady will not be suitable. Mehran is relatively decent option along with low cost and almost everywhere available spare parts and mechanics.

But you know since it is not easy for a male to buy a used car then how could possibly it become easy for a female to find one at reasonable price and condition. well I believe when you step up for something There is none but Allah that helps you reach your goal. So still waiting for more responses and better choices.

What if I increase my budget up to 4 lacs. Definitely I have to wait to collect this sum but even then HOw much will it be helpful.?

I think santro (earlier models) may be near to your budget. It will be a much better choice as parts are available for santro and the car is much better than mehran etc.

Go for Mehran. It's resale is not a problem. Use it until next summer. By then you will have idea of using and maintaining car. In summer if you want a car with better AC, you can sale it.

For buying car, if you can find a non-professional seller i.e. someone selling his own car, it will be really good. You can search online forums for it.

Otherwise visit local market, find car, check it's physical appearance (both out side and inside the car), quality of the tires and observe it's sound when it starts, time it takes to start and smoke emission.
If these tests are passed get car for a test drive and find a mechanic in area a bit away from the selling merchant area. Ask him to examine car for you in return of money (300-400).
After this stage is documents verification.

My suggestion is to go for suzuki margalla if you are having budget uptil 3-3.5 lacs. If it can be increased to 4 than suzuki alto is the best option available. For an idea about price you may check pakwheels.com or olx.com.pk. After selection of any particular car.. better book an appointment of PakWheels "Carsure inspection" for detailed checkup of the car inside out. And on the basis of inspection you may decide to go for the same car or need to look for another car.
