guys, just a quick question, if you're going to compound, how much does it really matter if you clay or not for neglected paint?

Clay is non-abrasive and is used to remove chemically bonded contaminants on the paint, whereas compounding removes a nice layer of clear coat.....

yes, you are right. But what i wanted to ask is that how much of a difference it would make if you compound a clayed surface or otherwise. i think shouldn't matter much but still want to know in detail about any issues like if impurities can interfere with compounding process etc..

The general best practise is to clay before compound/polish (specifically if being done from machine). Clay (has its own types of abrasives) pulls out bonded contaminents which may have produced further damage under a polisher.
If the paint surface has industrial fall out, then you would need to de-iron that out (using products like ironx, dodo fallout remover etc)
If theres too much oxidation/dead paint on the surface, then its advised to use paint cleaners as clay will be overloaded with dead/oxidised paint.

Tashkeel bhai apply dodo purple haze sparingly as it consumes quite less than other waxes, 5 to 10 minuts curing time so panel by panel or 2 panels as a time , well its buffout with ease so u can buffout even after applying whole car. 2nd coat is recommended for better uniformity

Autofinesse lather shampoo works good with just half fill shampoo cap in a gallon water

Had a chance to meet up with @ahmad_yar bhai in lahore, such a wonderful person he is. Had a chat about detailing stuff and he explained the stuff in limited time as much as possible. Had a glimpse of things to come (A)

Got some stuff from Ahmad Bhai

And bought this little bad boy from hyperstar, used it today just to see how it works and believe me at full speed with nozzle brush it cleaned the rims and nuts very nicely, awesome steam like a little steam engine
Engine was also detailed will post pics later

On one of the front fenders of my Civic the paint has gone real bad. I've been told its been oxidized. I have tried getting it polished using cutting compound from a roadside place, but it didn't help.

Is there a solution to it? Or is repainting the only solution?

Wash-clay-wash-compound-polish-sealant or synthetic wax...

Wanted to ask that how do you guys clean the wheel arches. As for a daily runner they get dirty really quickly and they just ruin the look of a clean car. I used Sufi soap :Pto clean them and it cleaned pretty well and didnt leave the plastics dry. Used this on the advice of dear Ahmed bhai. So do tell how you clean the arches.

And i must say that Mashllah the work done in previous pages is quite good. Its really a treat to watch these cars after watching so many dirty and abused cars on road.

My cuore goes from North Nazimabad to Sea view and back - 6 hours infront of the sea- no shade
Then from North Nazimabad to 3 talwar, clifton in the evening.
This makes about 110 kms everyday!
I have a deal with a service station- i pay 300rs per month and they wash the underside of the car with the pressure water(no aayyl) or touching the paint)
When i had a corolla i used to wash the wheel wells with surf:P
Then 7cf:P
then Rinse with water.

Hi Guys Salam To All..
Did some hard work on my ride this Saturday..
I did it with my best.. cleaned from inside to outside..
I did it on Saturday, pics taken today morning after a ride of more than 60kms..
as i didnt get enough time to take pics these were taken before going on work so had afew minutes to take them, taken from cell fone camera, unfortunately interior pics nahi le saka..

please comment the pics then i'll tell the products..

bought a city 2001 and the condition as far as detailing is concerned looks awful.. loads of hairline scratches
