Watch Opticoat @ work. The car is not washed for 4 weeks now. Rain dust everything is on the car paint (watch it in 1080 for true experience, if your bandwidth allows) I think its worth the investment and one should apply it if budget permits.

Hope everyone is fine and in good health. Needed SME advice regarding swirl x as I have a black 2014 Gli which I am sorry to say has developed swirl marks I am really fed up of recently I tried meguires swirl x applying by hand rubbing it and then buffing it off with a MF cloth but the results were not even 10% different I followed by sonax black liquid polish and in the end meguires ultimate wax but still the swirls are quite visible ....... May any of the senior members plz guide how to get rid of these swirl marks is my method of applying swirlx correct or not??? Esp @ omarabdullah22 I am inpresed by the detail on your Gli ..... This is what I want and am trying to do so plz advise

a query ....

i have a black sheet on rear passenger windows and at the back screen as well.

its quite a black that at noon, i can almost see the reverse area, but at night, it gets totally black, cant see even any car's headlight...
& the back cabin gets toooooo dark, like a dark room (not ok for small kids...)

can anyone suggest where to get that sheet off (esp the back screen one) and have one in a little lighter shade ?

the concern is the company fitted defogger strips on back screen. i think if the black sheet is removed, it will take that defogger strips with it...

any idea or experience or suggestion ?

Walay kum Salam Doc,
First of all no need to fed up, the combination of Black color & Pakistani environment is always leads towards swirls, the best thing is you have eye to saw swirls every time
You seems to be in Abbotabad & you know Abbotabad kee mati is so sweet:) but at the same time it has brutal sand proportion which has perfect and deadly combination to make swirls on your ride
To my understanding any swirls treating product is usually wipeon/wipeoff applying procedure, means no need to wait for hazing, I think same goes for swirl X,
---Always apply any recovery products on a crystal clean surface, means after clay and wash
--- For the black ride i recon 2 round of swirl X by hand and than keep her on polishes until you start feeling that swirls starts to hide, in between you can also do round of Carnauba, once you notice visible reduction in swirls than you can start the process of sealing & further protection with regular waxing

Its nasty decision in the beginning to put this kinda sheet on rear screen, dont now how jahil one should be to allow anyone to put sheet on electric defogger any way also do get an idea from the guys who put tints, if you want to do it yourself , try to found an edge where you can start peel it off, you can use hair dryer to keep heating it so it will get bit less sticky, you need to give a try as it depends , what is the quality of sheet and how badly she is sticking

well, thanks for replying.
the sheet was by previous owner. its pretty black, as mentioned, and quiet firmly stuck. i tried to find the edges but cudnt. the sheet itself seems thick-er...

with a hair dryer, it might be possible to get any edge in hand. but either i try it or the guys who put these professionally do, my concern is that the defogger strips might damage. & i heard those cant be repaired & comes as factory fitted, not sold/ available separately in shops ?

also, if it gets off without any damage, theres no harm in putting another in lighter shades, is it ? or esp for back screen, shades can also be an option ...
coz many times, intelligent ppl with hi-beams irritate the **** out of me. so instead of getting in road rage kinda phase, these sheets/ shades can protect the eyes and moods. & sometimes, others as well ...

I agree with Amir bhai's advise. Just something i thought i'd add:
I have a little experience tinting myself and what i will advise is to properly heat the area you're gonna remove the tint. DON'T use the defogger to heat it in any case; its pointless. Start by heating an edge and use a plastic squeegee(NEVER USE A METAL BLADE; the screen will scratch up and defogger may get damaged) and peel the edge off so it is parallel to the screen, not perpendicular. What i mean is dont just pull it off in your direction........pull it gently in the screen direction which is the safest way to remove it.
If there is residue left behind use a glass cleaner to get it off.

I know its frustrating & i can understand your feeling but it seems like its glued/sticky kinda paper, so yes its a gamble but on the other hand safety is priority, hair dryer must be used in shade and when the glass was cold
I can fully understand the jahil drivers with full beams on our A$$
By any means if you able to get rid of it I would recon sliding non stick-able blinds ( anyway choice is yours ) ( abb other kay leayee kuch tu karna paray gaa

I'm thinking to try myself at first on windows. if that gets off easily, i will try the back screen with more care ...

These products are very easy to over-apply. This is why for the purple haze soft wax, I put lines of wax across the panel with my two fingers and then I even it out with my foam applicator pad. Also give a mist of detailer spray on your pad if possible. I let it dry to a haze (5-10mins) and then buff off.

For lime prime, I did a test panel by applying it in circular motions, nice and thin, massaging it into the paint and then buffing off immediately.

You need to thoroughly clean your car first and clay it. Only then you can decide whether your car needs compounding or not...

applying compound by hand requires alot of time and effort its not like wipe on wipe off that wont make a difference
you need a power tool for the job and pads along with it
if your car is dirty as hell then why dont you wash it ?

Hmm..
First buy a proper, user friendly compound like meguiars ultimate compound. Apply with a microfiber applicator in circular motions and then buff off immediately with a microfiber cloth. Make sure the surface and tools are clean so you're not swirling up your paint all over again. Repeat several times until the desired finish is achieved.
If your car has VERY minor swirls left, finish then with a polish like ultimate polish and then protect with a good quality wax.

I'd like to remind you again. You're losing a nice chunk of your clear coat so dont make this a habit.
