Car Care and Detailing Dreams (Part 2)

Yes I use microfibre cloths, only Meguiars, and now my cars get washed and waxed at home, they don't go to the brutal service stations anymore. I have 2 cars which are as follows, kindly guide me for each.

1. 2006 Mitsubishi Lancer: The car is with us since day 1, its color is Purplish Gray Mica. Over the time because of usage of cheap dusters and car covers by drivers many prominent swirl marks have appeared on the body as well as the glasses. How do I cure all of this? I wanted to get it done from Detailing Crew but they only operate in Lahore and I am in Islamabad, so what should I do now? What products should I buy? Below is the picture of the car.

2. 2010 Toyota Prius: We bought this car in Jaunary 2014. The color is Barcelona Red Metallic. Since then I have only used genuine Meguiars products on it but a few times in my absence, the foolish drivers used the cheap duster on the car and one a-hole just wiped the dust off without washing the car. Because of these incidents, it too now has swirls prominent upon close look and at night. What should I do about this one? Below is its picture.

Ultimate compound should get rid of em..
But be sure to cut once, but correctly and then maintain the finish by washing only with the double bucket method when you have time. Leave it dirty if you have to! Also invest in a good natural wax!

for mitsubihsi and prius both buy meguiars ultimate compound and micro fibre applicator pads, as you have less experience ultimate compound is safe enough plus micro fibre pads instead of foam pads would ensure that you don't scratch the paint or apply to much product on paint, start on small areas and practice, start on the mitsubihsi first as it will be more forgiving, follow instructions on the bottle, for maintainece micro fibre cloths only, leave it dirty in your absence, for dusting a very easy and effective way is to use a spray wax/quick detailer spray and a micro fire cloth, fold the cloth in squares and keep turning over when it gets dirty, the micro fibre would pick up all the dirt you would visually see it and the spray detailer would ensure you don't scratch the surface nor damage the wax, do it every night and you would not need to wash frequently if you find it a pain, a easy solution is to get astonish spray and shine from alfatah centaurus, it does the job well and is not expensive it won't leave and streaks and is also safe, rest for ultimate compound you can check dubai autos in sadder rawalpindi or even around blue area and rest you would do the usual wax/sealant protection etc, believe me if you have time and put the effort it will be much more satisfying than going to a detailing centre plus in the end you have to maintain it yourself anyway

he probably means one of those water less washes like from turtle, a better method in my opinion is too use a spray detailer to neutralise the static charge

Get a TW rinseless wash its around 900 or so will be helpful to ur problem use it in a garden spray bottle with 2caps of rinsfree with water and do the whole car just spray and wipe it off with a microfiber never dry wipe ur ride !

i completely detailed the interior of my 2010 altis, the carpets were done with turtle wax carpet cleaner with brush attachment, seats were cleaned using upholstery cleaner spray and detailing brush to agitate the dirt and wipe with micro fibre then used leather cleaning cream to clean and close the pores of the leather then finally meguiars gold class leather cleaner and conditioner, plus also applied it twice the second time in highly concentratred levels on the seats and left it with 12 hours then took it off, this was a tip i read in international forums and it really works, it left the seats much soft and smooth, felt like they suddenly had more cushioning, dashboard was cleaned using upholstery stain remover spay then liqui moly cockpit glanz to give a nice matte finish and scent then topped up with quick detailer, the combo did a great job especially on interior plastics and upholstery cleaner was used on roof lining, nooks and crannies cleaned with steam,
a long writeup and now a long list pics to follow

All Gurus... I have a question, though I already asked from some gurus already on phone, but thought to ask here again to benefit other members..

question is " CAN I USE CLAY BAR ON WIND SCREENS AND DOOR WINDOWS??? " and " IF CLAY LUBRICANT IS NOT AVAILABLE WHICH SOLUTION WE CAN USE WITH CLAY BAR??"

Sir jee....I use all the worn out clay bars on the windows.....really does help in ge ttin that extra clean look, if clay lube is not available, use a detailer spray, an even if that is not available, simply use a shampoo an water solution.....aim is to lube the clay enabling ease of flow over the paint!

Can you show a picture of what the microfibre pads look like? I have 2 microfibre cloths with me and also the water magnet, all Meguiars. I also have the Quik Detailer spray with me.
Now other than the pads i need to get ultimate compound and what else?

Been a silent observer of this thread, however I am looking to start some detailing myself and need your help.

First of all my Father's black city, swirls and lots and lots of them, so please suggest products. Atm I don't have anything at all. So you'll have to suggest each and every product required.

Here are the pics for the city (blush)

In a pic below you'll see this city in the background, you can judge the shine of the car from that pic I think. Or if still you guys need a pic from some distance I can take one and post here.

Next up khyber:

Its been repainted, the paint feels dull to me, I'd like the paint to be glossy and wet and there are swirls on this one as well. No shot for the swirls on khyber will try to get one and post it here.

It looks clean and from some angles shiny as well but its not really the pic below shows that there isn't much shine and the paint is dull.

Dear Bro, Consider the following Detailing items:

1. Purchase a good Car Shampoo either from Turtle or Meguiars (Always wash with double bucket method)
2. Clay Bar (Do a baggie test first, Clay is used to remove contamination of the paint skin and smooth out the paint)
3. Wet Sanding (if there is Orange peel and deep scratches and swirls) - MUST BE DONE BY PROFESSIONAL
4. Megs Ultimate Compound (Twice or once in a year depends on the condition or new swirls)
5. Megs Ultimate Polish (Twice or once in a year depends on the condition or new swirls)
6. Megs Cleaner Wax (for white Khyber - must be used every 2 to 3 months) - NOT CONFIRMED THAT IT CAN BE USED ON BLACK COLOR OR NOT
7. Sealant (for protection of car skin)
8. Megs Ultimate Paste wax or Megs Gold Class or Megs Hitech Yellow Wax (Gold Class and Hitech Yellow not recommended for white color)
9. Set of Microfibers
10. After that be regular, try to wash the car by yourself and dont do dry dusting.

the one on the right is the micro fibre applicator pad and one on left is foam applicator pad

you can get meguiars ones

other than ultimate compound you need to seal the pain after compounding, you can use a sealant if sticking to meguiars then their m21 sealant or a synthetic wax like meguiars ultimate paste wax and top that up with a non cleaner carnauba wax for depth, i personally prefer dodo juice purple haze for topping up, meguirs gold class carnuba waxes have cleaners so on top of synthetic the combo won't last long

you can adda glaze like mirror glaze from meguiars or meg ultimate polish in between compounding and wax if you want for more shine

Regarding Wet Sanding (point 3).. wait for professionals to Answer.

Ultimate Compound and Ultimate Polish can be used on both cars (Point 4 and 5).

Sealant also gives you long lasting protection to your paint from contamination and also gives you gloss and depth.. Different sealants have different time durations for protection, ranging from 3 months upto 1 year and can be used accordingly.

Wax is not for wash it is for protection of paint, it nourishes and moisturize your paint. can be applied on weekly or biweekly wash basis.

NOTE: Dont do dry dusting, dry dusting creates more swirls and scratches. if you have time wash it after 2 to 3 days. If dont have time keep it dirty or wash weekly or biweekly or you can use rinse free wash after 2, 3 days, or clean your car with damp microfiber...
