Its possible you might not be using it correctly. I've been using CG All Purpose Cleaner for quite some time now and it does wonders everytime.

I have one question. How often should we wash/clean engine bay.
By wash means expert washing which I do myself.
Dont let it get filthy..Do a basic cleaning every 3-4 weeks and when it gets too dirty, do a full detail after around 1.5 months depending on how your car is driven and how much dirt and dust it sees.
Wash onceAnd then wipe regularly with apc damped cloth. Apply any water based dressing to attract less dirt.

No need for shampoo. Just apc damped cloth and lots of time.
