Car Care and Detailing Dreams

I need this thread. I have 1998 Mercedes C180 and paint is dull and from some parts i can see slightly white dots hardly 2 or 3 small one which i am really sick of. I need a lot of help getting it back. Was planning for compound but later i changed my plan. Paint do has some circular lines. Sometimes used those Yellow/Whites cheap polishes and some Chinese 7CF Foam spray for Interior but that makes Interior reflecting in front screen which really disturbs me. I am not really but extremely worried for my car's paint. Suggestions by experts will be highly appreciated.

Sometimes i go to PSO, Cavalry one for Car Service but not they but almost all service stations use Clothes washing powder. I believe that thing does effect paint as washing powder has hard small grains. What do you guys suggest?

Some one told me there is a guy in Islamabad who applies a long lasting coat like Clear Bra (not ladies one :P) to keep paint healthy, shiny and long lasting. Should i go for that?

Clear bra is a transparent vinyl coating on automotives.It may not be suitable for our environment.Secondly,car's paint has a depth which you can't get in clear bra.Looks of your Mercedes will be killed.

Compound is the harshest solution for paint spot removal......Ill recommend you clay bar the spot, I have some if you want to try it pop over to my place an well have a go at it.....circular lines Im assuming swirls, well take care of that, no prob..........YOU HAVE A MERC FOR GODS SAKE STOP USING YELLOW AN WHITE POLISH!!!!!!!! I have a 07 city an Im using a 11,000 ruppee wax............invest some into your car, youll get the return with paint protection an peace of mind......For interior get the dash washed with shampoo with and a brush.....then use Turtle wax Ice interior on it, value for money interior matt polish..........or you can use the speed spray an wipe off with a wet cloth an you`ll get a matt finish...

Those hard small grains are used for cutting by some painters.....imagine the brutality yer doing on yer car with it.......the most major factor for swirls after dirt.......an since were on the topic, the next argument from the more brainy service people is they say we completely dissolve the washing powder grains in the cloth an make a bubbly mixture an then use it......answer to this is that washing powder is pure murder for car paint, think washing powder is designed specifically to attack oil an dirt, car paint is based on oil, when you remove oil from car paint, it gives off a powdery white look an looses its gloss...same is the case with hair wash shampoo........

Clear bras arent good for our climate.......talking from experience......plus youll miss the paint dept....its just a clear sticker you put on yer car.......the quality you get here is down right crap....an if you get it imported itll cost you an arm an a limb........then the fitters have a knack of wasting.......I`ll recommend sealant instead, financially its viable...and its good for our climate......I am doing sealant work on cars, the product is imported from the States, over there the warranty is 3 years, but I give a years warranty here only because of the harsh conditions in our country...........though for a shiny finish I do recommend a wax once in a while despite the sealant......

Sir, viewed your thread, marvellous results........think youll have to do a lil work on the waxing though......rest the washing was spot on an so was the drying......chrome polish by speed, hmmmmmmmmm, did you use the brush as required??? Do it on a cold surface, spray on leave for 2 to 5 mins, scrub with brush an then rinse with water an dry out...........can be used for any steel surface.......heck I even cleaned pots an pans in the kitchen with it that had burn stains.........its gona take a lil time for you to get yer hands into the detailing dept, took me years, sadly Im self taught an through experimenting........but heck of a nice start......next in line is those swirls.............but meanwhile keep the wax a weekly feature....youll be amazed at the difference in just 2 or 3 applications.....JazakAllah

i sorta forgot the part where i had to leave the rim polish to dry n scrub with brush and wash it again :S

for the time being i noticed many places where the car needs touchups n some minor spots which need to be removed,planning to take care of those on this weekend,will surely bug u n amir bhai for that

Okay people.....after a long absence from my DETAILING addiction, im back at business. There were some professional committments holding me up but now i have time. To start off i did my yearly engine bay cleaning during the Eid leave. Here are the results. Sorry the Camera in use is of my cell phone so the quality aint that good.

Last image shows the shields at the bottom which were cleaned to the original black state but not without a stinging backache by the end of the day.

Product used was a diluted mixture of Lemon Max liquid wash which v normally use for cleaning baby milk bottles.
