Just so that everyone is clear. A polish is not always abrasive. Yes that is usually the meaning which is implied. Not all polishes remove a coat. Meguiars deep crystal polish is a pure polish, it has NO abrasives, just lots and lots of polishing oils. That gives the paint some nutrition as I like to call it. It won't correct any swirls or defects. Really helps with darker cars. Then there are abrasive polishes as well. Like the Meguiars ultimate polish which has SMAT particles which makes it abrasive but very mild, again having lots of polishing oils. And then there are full on abrasive as well. Some companies like to call their abrasive compounds as polish so one has to be very careful when using the word "polish"

Yes the DC system has been around for a while but the DC polish is a pure polish so I like the 2 step separate correction and polishing step. In my experience I liked the 2 step process more than the Ultimate Polish because the swirl correction wasnt ideal but it's still an amazing product !

So which one would you recommend for a black civic and a medium silver altis? I have heard that the new meguiars ultimate line is their top of the line product and much better than previous lines. What do you say?

Yeah there was some crazy mix ups and confusions, so I got it delivered to a friend who was coming here. He was already over weight so he opened and brought 4 for me .. The rest are with him right now. Might come back in 2 to 3 months so will bring it with him. Lets see what happens.

It all depends what you want to achieve and for what purpose are you asking me. Just a wax or polish or swirl correction. Yes the ultimate line is very good probably the best for a good monthly detailer person. Its easy to apply and take off and last the same almost as the NXT tech wax. The polish is slightly abrasive so would help in removing swirls as well.

Let me know what you are looking to acheive on these cars and il try guiding you.

For simple detailing, after a good wash and some claying I typically use a good carnauba wax (my preference Meguiars Gold Class) followed up in 12 hours of a Synthetic wax ( My preference when I want to show off, the mothers Reflection Syn Wax plus the Top coat but when I want to preserve it and have a very good shine the tech wax 2.0 or the ultimate wax. According to me both are equally good)

Since you have a black civic before waxing and after claying you could add your swirl correction process but if not please try and acquire either the Meguiars Deep Crystal Polish or the Ultimate Polish, it does wonders to a dark coloured car !!

try posting a few pictures if you can. A lot of people might be able to help plus get an idea what kind of products would give what kind of results on that particular paint and with that condition. Atleast it would help me.

thats a bit of a prob coz my came data cable is wid someone else. but theyre not so deep, i just see circles around the sun when i look at it through the paint. vehicle is a silver rolla

Black civic has soft paint and is full of swirls so I want a mild polish which can cover up some minor swirls. I am not after major paint correction on this car because swirls reappear no matter what you do within 10 days. The medium silver Altis, surprisingly, despite having 4 times more mileage than the civic has very few swirls so I can take risk of using a slightly abrasive polish on it to remove them. Its a hard paint so no worries here.

Regarding waxes, I have noticed some interesting observations. I was previously using Mothers products i.e. Mothers Carnauba, Synwax and Top coat but recently by stock of Meguiars arrived and I used NXT 2.0 for the first time on my Altis. First time shine was good but it stopped beading water in 3 days which was very surprising (this was last sunday). Today I applied the Meguiars Gold class Carnauba Plus on the same car but there was hardly any gloss or slickness so I topped it off with Mothers top coat.

3. clay bar removes contaminants that have bonded to the paint like overspray and fumes.

4. carnauba wax is collected from palm trees and refined and mixed with other chemicals. it is natural. on the other hand synthetic wax is man made from polymers and it is much tougher

5. carnauba has a better depth while synthetic has more durability and longevity then carnauba.
   6.it works the same way as carnauba, it simply forms a protective cuticle over the paint.
   7.cleaner wax removes old wax layers, contaminants(freshly adhered other wise its clay bar). cleaner waxes also contain mild polishing agents.it also has the capacity to remove light swirls.they may also be used to remove bugs and tar
   8.cleaner wax is much too mild to replace a clay bar or compound.
   9.cleaner wax contains cleaning solvents and polishing agents. the cleaning solvents dissolve old wax and the extremely mild polishing agents remove minor defects and oxidization
