3M perfect it and Ultimate compound are supposed to be neck to neck. The 3M perfect it line is product of use for paul dalton so that tells how good it is. U are right that ultimate compound is more safe with hand application and still does the job good so do try it but be sure the applicator u use is the right one, that is a mild cutting applicator only and the microfibre u use later on shud be totally clean, dried indoors after the last wash. Also when ever u carry out an anti swirl job, try n do it in as dustless an envoronment as possible, an indoor garage is the best way. Swirl x will work best with a DA but for minor swirls even a hand application will do.
When products say CLEAR COAT SAFE on them then rest assured they ARE. As an example i will tell u that i got some over spray on my drivers door. To remove it i tried Meguiars rubbing compound n even in the 3rd application i could still feel the traces of that sandy overspray, this shows very very safe cutting specially coz of meguiars microabrasive technology. For the final removal of that last bits of that overspray i used the ICE claybar and it removed it COMPLETELY and wonderfully.
Swirls will always come back no matter how good u are but there are cetain ways in which u can delay the onset again:
1) Never do dry-dusting. Always soak a microfibre n wipe off the dust lightly, when that side has been completely covered in dust then change the side, remember very light hand otherwise ur rubbing that dust on the paint. 2 to 3 sides done, soak and squeeze that microfibre in 1st bucket, then squeeze and soak in 2nd clean water bucket ant then go over th rest of the vehicle.
2) Never wash ur car with anything else except a branded good car wash whose reviews uve seen online, rating are also there for this stuff.
3)After every wash, u must clean ur microfibres and applicators as good as u clean ur car, soak the cleanest microfibres in ariel water in a washing machine first (cleanest ones are those which u used last as the drying ones after the wash or on the interior one). After 15 mins take em out n put in the next dirtier ones (the ones that were used for taking off polish). After this drain this ariel water and put in fresh water only , now soak the dirtiest ones (used for taking off the dust and mud during wash), give em a water run only, drain the water and now put more water plus ariel , give it a spin for 15 mins.At the end give everything a spin in clear clean water to take out ariel residue. Change the clear water 2 to 3 times to get rid of residue completely. Afterwards all drying shud be done indoors, they wud pick dust outdoors otherwise. This is painful but u can teach a servant to do all this, water used shud be very light warm only, microfibres get damaged in too hot water.
