The damp mf acts as a magnet an sucks the dust particles off the surface......simply by dabbing the surface you are removing the dust particles in a safe manner.....though when you use the swipe or stroke method...what happens is on the initial stroke, the front of the mf starts to absorb dust....an when it reaches its maximum capacity an can absorb no more it just starts to build up a line of the dust. If it at this point, which is hardly a couple of inches, you still proceed to stroke the mf, that line of dust will get rubbed across the surface of the paint, or come under the point of pressure from where you are holding the mf and eventuallly cause "swirls"

@ junaid..dude...your MF's 'jild' must be like Reema's 'jild' by now...LOL!!!!!

@ everyone else...my hunch is that our real problem here in Karachi are the "SAND PARTICLES" in our every day dust coupled with extreme pollution and heavy moisture. Sand is not like regular dust and is bound to leave scratches unless a proper 'Shower' is given to the car. Again unfortunately, if we wash our cars everyday, they will rust more faster then we can say Micro Fibre

Same problem is in Dubai/UAE but there because of the dryness, a daily car wash does nothing (in terms of Rust) to the car except leaving it squeaky clean (pur wahan kay dust storms say to Allah hee bachaey)

The best way to go about it is what has been explained above...be as much careful as you can and take all necessary precautions. As long as a few lines and webbings are created on the upper coats AND NOT ON THE PAINT...there will always be an annual swirl removing session

I think Khurram being a more seasoned detailer here in Karachi could shed some light on this through his experience with Karachi's dust.

I think quarterly claying sessions would also take care of a lot of lines (not swirls)...just a hunch.

Jaan chuti lakho paye, laut kay detailer ghar ko aye ? Wah jee!!! Sirf dab kiya aur gari khatam ? Sir jee the dabbing part was only for dust removal from the car......dab the car to remove the dust particles, afterwards use swiping motion to clean the car......the dabbin will no doubt make some water marks, but not big dirty ones if done properly......the dust must be removed properly first to prevent swirls.....then you must use swipe technique to clean the car an pick up the remaining dust an give you the bling you were looking for......you realise how painstakingly difficult it is to maintain paint ? It takes only one uneducated washing session or dusting session to swirl up your ride.......not more......so the more you get into detailing, the more you acknowledge the effort,time, finance put it for a nice shiny swirl free ride!

Raja sahab, bold line parh lain, dab the surface first so you dont have to deal with swirl causing dust during the swiping stage afterwards....

i am in a habit of leting the car dusty unless i water wash it,car remains dusty for 1,2 days after proper car wash,whereas i use duster once or twice to wash the glasses.

Its took me nearly 3 months to go through whole of 291 pages of this
marvelous thread and now I am feeling in love with you ( not that love
of dostana film wala but the real brotherhood wala love :)). You really make me
your student and I got copy /pencil and start noting down ustad jee expertise,
later I scrolled back and start taking print outs of your expert sayings and now today Alhamdollia I finish the thread and having more than 60 pages print out file with heading "Car Care and Detailing Dreams"
Not joking but in these 3 months a kind of affection created in my heart for you, amir bhai (accord) , bad cheetah yawar, tayyab , devilz_apprentice, mani1, sarda saeed, khurum bhai, stingray, mistero, imran hakro….

Though I am elder in age among all of you but you all guys real teachers for me, I learn many things form you. I don’t have such big chamkati cars like you , muj gareeb ke pass 5 years old alto hai but its considered to be cleanest car among rest ones under parking shed of factory where I use to work But u guys taught me how to make most shiny skin of car. Thank you all of you my younger brothers , due to you I really fullfil my addiction / thurk hehe

@ahmed....sirjee bismillah karein bismillah... aur yeh jitnay logon ko aap nay address kya hai na alag alag...yeh sub drug mafia kay log hain...kyon kay car detailing sub say khatarnaak addiction hai...kisee waqt din yah raat kay chain nahi milta bus dil chahta hai kay detailing kay suroor mein bus doobay raho...apnee Body par jitna bhee bura asur par raha ho...**** kitna hee tooth raha ho...bus dil chahta hai kay lagey raho... Even in the gym jub muscle mein cramp ata hai to bunda ruk jata hai...but not in detailing...adhee garee ko abhee buff karna baqee hai...cramp agaya...wtf...hell with cramp...have to complete the car...

No cure from this addiction sirjee...only solution is to sell the car and use Metro.

You know when I now tell people about me two hobbies...I get strange looks as they both lie at the extreme ends...Cooking and Car detailing...kitchen and cars apparently do not mix (unless you are melting wax in the kitchen)...and I love it...

Would love to see some of your before and after pics...do not hide mistakes the idea is not to impress the pros (there is no short cut to experience irrespective of our age...) but to seek their guidance...plus we need to get more people aware about this...you know build where we get the culture of detailing within the domestic car owners.

Last of all, Ahmed, I know you are committed, cause you read the whole thread before venturing in it with a post...tells a lot about you...and trust me some of the pros here infact all of 'em (the drug mafia ) are all pretty down to earth people who have come together because of their passion for cars (clean ones).
