Car Care and Detailing Dreams

salam.i washed my car yesterday did some waxing too.
it was my very first ride and my very first detailing session.
results are ok,not great.
i have some question.
whats the valid ratio of car wash liquid to water?
how much quantity of compound is needed to b applied?
after how much time should i wax after washing?
is it ok to use one microfibre for drying after washing and for taking off waxing compound?
after how much time i should take off the compound after applying?

Valid ratio....hmmmm, depends on the shampoo you use, kindly tell me which one yer using an I`ll guide you on it......compounding a car is harsh....what results are you trying to obtain from compound? Cleanliness,scratch removal??
Enlighten me on this as well..........you can wax the car immediately after washing.......yes it is ok to use a microfibre for drying a wet car an also for removing wax on a car......compound you generally rub till it finishes....I dont think you have to give any time to the compound.

dear usman bhai sooo happy to see you after sooo many days without u udasyian he udasyian hain on this thread.

i work in leather tannery and in finishing dept we also use lot of oils, waxs, sealents, even carnuba waxs on leathers, we also play with all waxs, oils, sealeants , glazers and polishers to achive desired touch and optic, some time we do waxs on top and some time where we wish to protect the waxy feel/touch for longer time and to improve colour rub fastness properties we apply sealents on top etc so as per usman bhai and aamir bhai its all depend upon what desired requirements we have in our mind.

as like some people apply carnuba wax on top after synth so synth can also apply on top of carnuba to protect carnuba wax depth for longer time, i personaly tested this theory on my car as like i applied turtle glaze which is quite oily and wet but i top up with turtle synthetic wax on it and i surprise to see the strong binders in it which binds stongly even on oily wet surface on car, in leather we have experince carnuba waxed surface attract dirt and become dirty easily where as if top up synth than surface become too smooth and silky and for dirt particulers its hard to stay on car paint work.

its true synth after carnuba reduces wet look but here we have more pollution / dirt compare to europe and usa so this theory works here great to keep car dirt frree atleast for a week.

You can well imagine how I managed till today without pw.....phir bhi beech mai aik na aik shurli mar hi deta tha...kahir JazakAllah for the kind words.....an you people are here, udassi ki kiya baat hai! Aab plan banaye gtg ka....Aamir bhai when are you landing?? An Bad when are you gettin that semester break? Who else is up for the meet .....put in haazri...give a date when you can come as well.....

vague has tested the mothers an turtles glaze, but let lemme tell you, the megs glaze is outttttttttta this world......in Karachi alota meg`s prod are in Optimum but sadly they ask a handsome buck for their stuff.....ask anyone from aborad to get it for you....its worth it!

bari khabar hai janab har jaga ki you are right, optimum motorsports is a good shop, but really expensive, banda khud kehta hai k i import stuff so obviously i'd charge a bit more than the ebay price !

Yar thats what i meant about the menu . . . polishing, detailing, cleaning... put everything on the table.

I have to get rid of few scratched on the boot....it seems it was done diliberatly. So put that on the menu for sure..

Now for 300 pages and 6000 post... u dont have to give a treat...rather u should get a treat from all those who post here.

Quality is bad after a couple of washes...leaving skid marks and you can tell it is moving from an MF to a plain old Rag very very rapidly...

I have tried everything...from washing it with luke warm water and liquid soap to soaking it, to drying it indoors to steam cleaning it...to boiling...but nopes it just goes from bad to worse with every wash...

KMAN...first of all hats off to one of the best local 'WHITE" sessions I have seen on this thread (although I am just a month old here but I have gone through every page)...you actually made white the new black...

secondly, excellent chart...this is also what most manufacturers of boutique waxes recommend however, and I repeat however... I found two things:

a. With our dusty environments ESPECIALLY Karachi...you cannot simply follow this regime...we have to take care of our cars literally daily with pampered treatments on a weekly basis.

The Goras normally recommend this on those special cars which are mostly not daily drivers plus their environment is literally dust free (atleast most of them) and is pollution free...furthermore the products we use are ideally made to perform under THEIR conditions...I am sure Meg's and dodo are not expecting a car with a fresh coat of carnauba driving within 5 feet of a tail chorhta hoa, kala dhoan phaykta hoa bedford ka diesal ka truck...

Plus the enthusiasts go even further and have static and dust free garages...My dad gets his car the works once before winters and once during spring and he gets a shiney car all year long...me I have to struggle every second day.

b. Discovered this amazing boutique show car product range in the US...definetly going to order it in Jan and have it brought in as the second batch to my already ordered ones...well anyways I called the owner up over the weekend and he gave me some very good tips and advice...

First of all...he shattered the myth of this table...he said that he knew owners who were so much in love with their cars that they did the whole regime every week irrespective whether their cars were dailies or not...just as long as you know when you have to take off all the older layers which have added up over time.

I got some great waxing and cleaning tips from him, some of which I tried out this Sunday and they worked...I will be sharing them with you all...as soon as I get some time to do the Sunday session write up.

I see your point and it makes sense too...but to me it makes sense in the following order

Glaze (if being put on) + Sealant + Carnauba + Sealant...so we are looking at 3 coats after surface/paint prep (I am counting Glaze as part of paint prep)...so this falls under the multi coat regime...and why the heck not...we do use some sort of product as a final coat after Carnauba or any other wax...like a detailer or a wax enhancer so why not a sealant...detailer can be left off for midweek...

@ V1 so are we saying to the head strong ones that do not want to follow the right procedures and still complain and crib about the shine..."AEY LAY MURRR!!!" .... :rolleyes:

Okay Karachiwalas...Hyperstar now has a lot of Mother's stuff including the popular Reflections and the Carnaubas. However, glaze is still missing and the MFs are of Sonex...interestingly they are all out of those disposable polishing MFs...which by the way are damn good.
