i was more busy in Cruise and Audio controls lolzzz!! sorry missed this thread as was busy elsewhere. bro was definitely happy n said the last time he saw it this shiny was at the Toyota showroom when it was bought. this is one of the reasons i like the King hard wax.its in the price of the formula 1 n kasmic yet very good results. the XLI is an example of the wax over ICE .got him a bit into detailing n he has a black Shogun Diamond in England n has promised to keep it bling bling also. its quite cold there so he's waiting for the weather to be a bit better and then he'll get his Kachaa out!! he went to the hand car was yesterday n got it cleaned! but hes actually waiting for me to go n will have a brothers detailing session!! youngest drives a black audi n he too was saying paijaan tussi aao tey fer chamkasaan!! thank ALLAH the younger to me rides a white BM so thats easier to mantain!! next trip to UK n lots of DODO on the way back!!INSHAALLAH

The thread has progressed really well since i last posted. Kudos to Usman Bhai and all other detailing fans!
I see quite a lot of detailing freaks who have entered the scene! I still remember the days when this thread first started! hats off to you Usman Bhai! InshAllah I'd be joining you and Aamir bhai at the GTG tomorrow!
Well then how about i plunge into the technicalities of detailing?
About de-waxing, Mistero here mentioned the use of detailing spray for de-waxing. now my question is that mostly the detailing sprays like platinum series from Turtle Wax contains carnuba n polymer base which basically acts to form another layer over your old wax and enhances the depth, so how can it remove the previous layer?
Yes, it might contain abrasives to cut the previous wax layer, but will they be enough for a complete de-waxing?
A thorough explanation will be deeply appreciated.
I use Blazin Glaze or Turtle Wax Heavy Duty Car Wash for de-waxing purposes. Usually, special purpose degreasers are availabe for de-waxing like 3M's General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner.

next ill show u what i achieved with the 3 steps i did on my elder brothers ride! Black XLI 2007 which was recently sold. the car was parked in our ancestral house. My father had hired an old fella of the village who would come every second day to wash the cars n he literally raped her paint!! would wash the car with ordinary water and a rag.would dry the car with the same rag and would wax her in months with the same rag that too if they know i was coming as i would get bizzirk seeing the condition of the car. this was going on since the car was newly purchased.had the car delivered to me in Kharian and i felt like weeping after seeing it. the car was parked, by one of the SAYANA's of the area who was told over the phone to do so, at a place where the bonnet would get 6-7 hours of direct sunlight from May till Nov. it had two covers on it and my bro n dad were satisfied that its safe!! the car was parked for 6 months like this. the bonnet had gone very hazy due to heat of the sun n some illiterate wax application!! imagine the blackwax tin in Cruisys pics was purchased in Mar 2007 n it was still half full when i found it in the boot after nearly 5 yrs!!u canhave an idea of the amount of wax applied in 5 yrs!!.. bro had to come for a month from england so got the car over in Kharian as he had to put up with me. swirl marks,dull dirty paintwork n the sunlight ad ruined the car like hell. though the car had only 33k on the odo. it had a resprayed rear right door n the rer fender. treated her by first washing with plain water and used scratch out to remove the swirls and minor scratches' then applied the carnauba.waited 12 hours applied the Turtle ice and topped with carnauba again. next day washed with plain water,dried with MF and applied carnauba again. after two days repeated the shampoo,ice and carnauba. the next day washed with water and again carnauba!!! see the results of a 4 day paint treatment from me!![img]https://www.pakwheels.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=351239[/img]

Well this tip was given to me in my early days by Vague himself. I do not question his logic but try to test it and decipher it on my own. If I do not get it or understand it then I nag him with repeated questions

Well as per my logic how this works is (Usman correct me if I am wrong)...the detailer has carnauba and polymers but it is highly diluted. Most of it evaporates the minute you spray it and the what remains brings out the shine in a good wipe. So when we take the wax out, the dilution helps loosen the hazed wax which we need to remove and that unneeded extra layer from the detailer evaporates as it should. Shining agent mixing with shining agent is actually good as both compliment each other and as both products are supposed to bond with the paint and are from the same family. Using anything else might actually screw up the newly bonded wax layer because of different ingrediants, different objective (clean vs shine).

my bro went back elder bro went back last month n now most of the time we are discussing detailing on whatsapp.this is the pic i got from him yesterday which he sent when he took his ride for a handwash!!! too cold to do it urself(thats what he says however i dont buy the lame excuse!!)

@Mistero, Well it appears that I confused your statement about removal of excess/hazed wax after application, with de-waxing (old wax build-up). My apologies for that!
I was actually referring to removal of old wax layers. It's a good practice to remove old wax/de-wax to prep up the paint for a long-lasting treatment.

my remedy for that is claying every three months (though I have yet to do my first claying but I plan to do it hopefully from next month...if my stuff arrives end of this month) Otherwise I guess V1 uses Dodo Lime prime for this.

I on the other hand in the absence of both these products give my car a nice wipe down with Big Orange as a courtesy surface prep for wax just after the rinse and shampoo.

our desis there in England are big time into the hand car wash business. i remember tyres used to be treated with the so called tyre shine/ slick tyres which use to be shiny n kinda waterproof!! but the new thing i noticed this time was that they were applying a liquid on the tyres. tyres were shining. i asked what it was n he just tried to avoid the answer. then had a chat with one of the lads who was a student and was working part time, i asked him the same n he told me that it was USED OIL!! yep used oil!!! as its nearly dust free so dust doesnt stck to it n te owner saves on the tyre gel!! it was a big LOLZ from myside!! we are geniuses in our own way!!! USED OIL to make the tyres shiny!! this is applied using normal paint brushes!! we cant even imagine the same in our part of the world where it would become a mud ball after 500M !

Errr, sarkar, twice a year is good enough, lekin bhai ko kera thora bara sa hai so Im on a hat-trick every year......lime prime, liquid clay, clay bar, heavy duty shampoo, detergent foaming, one or the other or a couple of these combined....an the big orange wipe down is a good prastis! I used to do it in my early details! Im a bit of a loony let loose now with detailing stuff.....so these days its whatever tickles my fantasy!

heres my ex ride! A black car when clean is the best to look at and the worst when its dirty!! lotta hard work in our climatic conditions. got a new black 2.OD in 2004 as it was my wedding gift and 1st brand new car by my father. the following year got a strong blue 2.Od saloon. then this one n now the granite cruisy!all dark shades n loved keeping em clean n shiny'ill try to find the pics of my ex rides n show u some day!! love blaks when they shine n equally hate em when they are dirty as its the worst colour to look at!

Zunny bhai, your post is support to my claim here, that a pro detailer will never let you sit close to the car when the detail is going on.....they charge for somthin an then do somthing else.....sigh.....I mean come on people! If the other guy had the skills to do it, he wouldn`t be there gettin his ride done from you in the first place....plus I personally think that aint the right way to go about in life.....:-!

I haven't had the chance to use Big Orange yet. I am tempted to get it, but i use Pre-Soak as a multi-purpose detergent. I didn't know that Big Orange can be used for de-waxing. Isn't it a little too abrasive for the purpose? I use a Blazin Glaze wipe down after shampoo and wash once every two months before the ICE application.
