salam all. i am amatuer in detailing (so is the reason of high level enthusiasim) .well in my quest to eliminate scratches & swirls n get a show car result i bought some stuff n tried them on. got some guidance from vague bhai frm this thread and some on hand experience .this is wat i conclude n look forward to replies tht will be helpful for me and many of us.
Application method is by hand only.
products purchased were turtles polishing compound, turtles rubbing compound, turtles swirl remover , turtles hard shell wax, turtles microfiber towels.already had turtles wash&wax shampoo
result:
1. rubbing compound = highle abrasive.removes oxidation from old neglected paint surface, removes paint marks got from rubbing other cars, removes spray paint(phuara as common name used by painters in khi).it cleans the car surface really well but takes gud time. bad thing is it increases swirl marks n gives light scratches.
polisihng compound= moderate abrasive. removes light oxidation,removes paint marks. gives a clean shiny result but still with no effect to swirl reduction. scratches are mildly reduced. gives u tennis elbow;)
swirl remover= light abrasive. reduces swirls upto 80%(in my case.result may vary with others). very light effect on scratches althought its name is "swirl & scratch remover). it sweats you in cold nights .
4.hard shell wax= gud wax. not for long periods. cleans off in 3 to 4 shampoo washes. hard to apply . hard to remove. much better than FORMULA thing most of us used in past(atleast i did)
- mfs= really good thing to have. cleans with excellence and protects paint surface frm further damage. easy wash easy dry. heavy on pocket. (could have bought a levis shirt)
conclusion : happy with swirl remover results. :). may be i could have got better results if i had a DA or a rotary.
cars in concern are eagle eye 2004, alto vxr 2003, gli 2010, camry glx 2007
guinee pig is currently masoom alto. sorry no pix. d3100 software is not getting installed in my 64bit vista satellite.
ok now all my pro brothers of this forum .wat shud i do more to get the show car result. how to remove tht 20% swirl and those clear coat scratches( clear coat as i can see them in an angle in night n day.not visible from top but from side angle. cant c the primer either.correct me in this plz) . should i wet sand it with a 2500 to 3000 grit paper as told by other forum experts? and then polish n wax it? thts only thing left for me to do according to my research . your response is of great importance VAGUE BHAI N MISTERO BHAI and others too.
n yeah i know i need to get a better wax. but pehlay surface prep toh sahi sai hojae.

(i was a lazy fellow before this thread. had a local rubbing in "dibi", "rubbing k bad wala chemical", formula and cotton before this detailing thing took over me. this thread has changed my sunday life. thank you all for giving me a healthy sunday activity)
